Judges tell officials it's ok to destroy ballot records of Alabama election!!

Alabama court gives last-minute order that could impede recount procedure

dec 13 2017 Controversy swirled over the mechanics of the Alabama Senate election after the state supreme court intervened at the eleventh hour to give election officials a green light not to preserve electronic ballot records that could form the basis of a recount.

A court in Montgomery, the state capital, issued an injunction on Monday afternoon ordering election officials around the state to preserve digital images of the ballots cast by Alabama voters in the hard-fought contest between controversial Republican Roy Moore and Democrat Doug Jones.

But the supreme court stayed that injunction almost immediately following a protest lodged by Alabama’s chief election official, the secretary of state, John Merrill. Voting rights experts denounced the ruling as a blow to transparency in a state that already has a flawed vote recount procedure and a somewhat checkered history of questionable election outcomes that the state’s senior officials and courts have allowed to go unchallenged. “There’s no legitimate reason not to preserve ballot images,” said Christopher Sautter, a veteran Washington election lawyer who helped the plaintiffs in the case. “It’s neither expensive nor inconvenient. It amounts to flipping a switch.”

Priscilla Duncan, the lead plaintiff in the case, noted with some amazement that the secretary of state’s protest was lodged with the supreme court at 4.38pm and the justices came back with their ruling at 5.18pm. “It’s just unbelievable that they examined the pleadings and got eight judges to concur in half an hour on a Monday afternoon,” she said.

If this were the other way around, the left would be having a total meltdown and crying that our democracy was in jeopardy. Since it's their guy, then who cares about a recount or ensuring that things were on the up and up?

This shit about no paper trail or any means to validate the results is a threat to democracy.

Why the rush to destroy records? Sounds fishy that they are in such a hurry to erase everything. This is how Dems roll.

Moron.... how exactly is this the handy work of Democrats? The entire bench of the Alabama state Supreme Court is made up entirely of Republicans...

  • Lyn Stuart (Chief Justice) - Republican
  • James Allen Main - Republican
  • Tommy Bryan - Republican
  • Will Sellers - Republican
  • Alisa Kelli Wise - Republican
  • Michael F. Bolin - Republican
  • Tom Parker - Republican
  • Glenn Murdock - Republican
  • Greg Shaw - Republican

You RWNJ are entirely crazy. :cuckoo:

Yes, republican judges......A republican Mueller......A republican DOJ.......
My God, Trump cultists are claiming that they all turned LIBERAL.......lol

Hey einstein. Know what RINO means?

Yea, RINO means today's Republicans, not the ones you are calling Republicans, your ilk doesn't know what the Republican stands for anymore.

As far as voter fraud, you don't seem to know what it takes to vote in Alabama or to get an id in Alabama. He lost, get over you snowflake.

The last thing an illegal is going to do is show up at a voting precinct or welfare office, to say here I am come and get me.---

BS - illegals have a huge incentive to vote. They want dems in power because dems are the open borders and welfare party. They don't worry about a one in a million chance of being caught and paying a fine.

It's ones like you that need to be run out of this country.

The creep lost. Get over it.
That is not what this thread is about.

How is that collusion shit going hypocrite?

Now, are you going to address the OP or will your cognitive dissonance not allow that?

Alabama apparently has history on covering election fraud, or at least not investigating it. For this to have happened the Republicans would have had to rigged the system. So now we see, the democrats are OK with election fraud as long as their guy wins. Can't say the Republicans are much better. Bananas anyone?

They reset the machines after every election, erasing the digital copies of the ballots cast in the last election. They keep the paper records for 22 months after the election if there are any recounts needed.

There's no 'there' there in this latest load of conspiracy batshit.

If it is anything like my precinct the paper copy is not a copy of the individual votes cast it just lists the totals. The actual individual votes stay either on the machine or are downloaded. Not sure how long they keep the individual ballots. It might be against a secret vote to keep them.

In Alabama the machines make a copy of the paper ballot. The paper ballot is stored for 22 months. The digital copies get tallied up on election night. After the election, the machines are reset, all digital images of the last election erased, and the machine prepared clean for the next election. Then the machine is put into storage.

Its pretty.....basic.

There's nothing about this case that indicates a conspiracy. Especially since every legal official involved is a Republican. The Secretary of State, plus every sitting judge on the Alabama Supreme Court.

And any day now there will be a mysterious fire and the ballots will be gone. That's why the electronic records should be kept. Hell - they're likely just stored in the cloud anyway. Why destroy them immediately after the election.?

Bama is deep red . How can there be all this voter fraud under their watch?

Because after 8 years of aunt barry, voter fraud is everywhere. He went on tv the day before the nov 2016 election and told illegals "When you vote, you're a citizen".

The last thing an illegal is going to do is show up at a voting precinct or welfare office, to say here I am come and get me.---

Besides that Alabama kicked out all illegals in 2012.

Alabama law drives out illegal immigrants but also has unexpected consequences
How America's harshest immigration law failed
Welfare office? They love those places. That is why over 60% of illegal households are receiving welfare.

Welfare Use by Legal and Illegal Immigrant Households

Illegals can’t get welfare . Which is why your misleading stat says “illegal households”. Say dad is illegal , but mom and kids are not. Dad is not eligible for assistance , but kids are . You would consider that “illegals getting welfare “.

Illegals can’t get welfare . .

HAHAHA. Hell - the law says they can't even live here but they do that by the millions and nothing is done about it. They live here and work here and collect welfare and vote because the authorities take corporate bribes to not enforce the law.
