Journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, who exposed suspect dealings at taxpayer-funded abortion mill Planned Parenthood via undercover videos, were denied a request to halt criminal prosecution, a press release from The Thomas More Society said on Friday.

Last month, the California Supreme Court issued a stay in the high-profile case based on "political bias and selective prosecution." But now the case is moving forward.

Daleiden and Merritt were hit with 15 felony charges in March of 2017 for their undercover work. The charges were widely decried for their threat to journalists, including by the left-wing Los Angeles Times. "Felony charges are a disturbing overreach for the duo behind the Planned Parenthood sting videos," a headline for the outlet warned.

Vice President and Senior Counsel at the Thomas More Society Peter Breen, who is part of Mr. Daleiden’s legal team, blasted the denial to cease prosecution.

"This decision to deny David Daleiden’s Petition for Review means that [California Attorney General] Xavier Becerra, as Planned Parenthood's prosecutor-in-chief, will be able to continue his unconstitutional harassment of David, bringing charges against him that don't pass the 'red face test,'" said Breen.

AG Becerra is an ally of Planned Parenthood; he took over for now-presidential contender Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA). Live Action reports on the potential conflict of interest:

Becerra has publicly promised to “stand with Planned Parenthood,” and both he and his predecessor, now Senator Kamala Harris, have received thousands of dollars in campaign donations from the pro-abortion organization. Both Harris and Becerra maintained their close relationship with Planned Parenthood and its entities even after proceeding with the investigation against Daleiden and Merritt. According to Daleiden’s representation, the Thomas More Society, Planned Parenthood even sponsored and hosted Becerra’s election night victory party.

---snip ---

Videos from Daleiden and Merritt, then working for the Center for Medical Progress, shook the country in 2015. Americans saw parts of unborn babies killed by abortion and witnessed Planned Parenthood executives appear to haggle over prices of said body parts. Planned Parenthood, however, claimed they are merely being reimbursed for the costs of prepping and transferring the body parts.

"Daleiden, along with co-conspirator Sandra Merritt, used manufactured identities and a fictitious bioresearch company to meet women's healthcare providers and covertly record the private discussions they initiated," Becerra alleged, according to the Christian Post.

"The right to privacy is a cornerstone of California's Constitution, and a right that is foundational in a free democratic society … We will not tolerate the criminal recording of confidential conversations," he added.

"The public knows the real criminals are Planned Parenthood and their business partners like StemExpress and DV Biologics — currently being prosecuted in California — who have harvested and sold aborted baby body parts for profit for years in direct violation of state and federal law," Daleiden contended after charges were handed down.

It has also been determined by a federal appellate court that videos from the Center for Medical Progress were not "deceptively edited," as claimed by the pro-abortion Left.

As noted by Live Action, "The court will now reschedule a preliminary hearing as the case against Merritt moves forward. During this hearing, Becerra will present evidence to try and convince the judge that Merritt and Daleiden should stand trial before a jury on fifteen felony charges related to their undercover videos."

---------------

Let's say a crisis pregnancy center was coercing women to give birth so they could make a profit through black market adoption or something equally horrible. And some pro-choice journalists exposed this through secret recordings.

Does anyone believe those journalists would have been anything but heroes? Would they have even been charged at all, let alone with 15 felonies?

Just like all the emails that showed how Hillary and the DNC conspired to give her the nomination. The only thing the DemonRATS were angry about was who released the emails.

The purpose of this lawsuit is to wear down the journalists who exposed PP and to bankrupt them so that nobody else dares to expose PP as the traffickers in death that they are.

Some of the replies to this thread are precise examples of cats and dogs recursively ad infinitum chasing their own tales. The radical left indoctrinates, on one hand on this issue, claim moral high ground on the basis of ultimate women's rights while attempting to scream down the evil of Alabama's new law and encourage women and that state's employees not to follow it because: it's a bad law, according to them. Here those same voices would scream down any who would consider defiance of what is clearly a bad (anti-first amendment) law--for the cause of journalism and truth, one based on inane technicality and semantic fine print. Predictably, these posters care only about laws which protect, justify or advance their ideology. Yet another fine, contemporary example of justification (for any crime or insanity against the human race) being the fundamental ethos of the American Left.
Yet you defend laws that require individuals to yield their sovereignty over their own bodies to outside groups that have a specific ideology, an ideology that this individual does not subscribe to. A person who is pregnant still has freedom of choice as to her religion and what ideology she makes the decision to adopt.. Does she not?
No one is violating a woman's sovereignty over her body. She is free to not get pregnant all day long.

An individual is free to exercise his or her sovereignty over his or her body at all times, with or without a pregnancy occurring within it. Can you force someone to be circumcised or have a vasectomy? No. You cannot.

Y'know, maybe if Daleiden and Merrit book a stay at a Trump hotel or golf resort for a couple of weeks AG Barr or Sekulow himself will represent them to balance the Becerra prosecution. A few bucks n Trump's pocket ought to do the trick for them.
Funny, Trumps walking around.money is MORE than you could possibly make in 2 lifetimes....ROTFLMFAO!!
You got that right, purge, and if Trump is an example of what a fortune does to a person, I'm the lucky one. I suspect you'll find this hard to believe, but all I ever wanted is enough, and I am blessed with that. I'm a long way from having much that I want, but fully aware that I have everything I need. And that is enough.

She is also free not to have an abortion. What she is not free to do is make that decision for another person.

David Daleiden

Journalists David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, who exposed suspect dealings at taxpayer-funded abortion mill Planned Parenthood via undercover videos, were denied a request to halt criminal prosecution, a press release from The Thomas More Society said on Friday.

Ocasio-Cortez: There'd Be 'As Many Planned Parenthood Clinics' As Post Offices If Male Politicians Could Get Pregnant

No wonder you are a fucking retard you want socialism where all your needs are taken care of by the state instead of STRIVING to make your life better than it is now....pathetic ABNORMAL thinking.

Go to Cuba and wallow in poverty!

An individual is free to exercise his or her sovereignty over his or her body at all times, with or without a pregnancy occurring within it. Can you force someone to be circumcised or have a vasectomy? No. You cannot.
The baby can live outside her body as early as 18 weeks...it is a science fact!
Great, show one time in history where that's ever happened.

I guess that person doesn't realize that 18 weeks is only about 4 and a half months of a 9 month pregnancy. Which means it's only half through gestation.

There are no recorded events of a 18 week fetus surviving outside the womb. The earliest a fetus has ever survived is birth at 22 weeks.

An 18 week fetus is only about 5 inches long and around 5 oz in weight. All of the organs aren't even fully working yet.

For anyone to say an 18 week fetus can survive outside the womb is ridiculous and nothing but a liar. One who expects everyone to be as stupid about the human gestation process as they are.

20 weeks is often the cutoff according to states' legislation (not including extenuating circumstances such as jeopardy to the mother's life).

So? To date there has never been a case of a baby born under 21 weeks and surviving. I think there were 2, in all recorded history, surviving at 22 weeks.
