Palestinian militant group Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people. Israel subsequently fired airstrikes on Gaza. Supplies of supplies of food, medicine, energy and fuel to the area were cut, before Israel launched a ground offensive later that month.

As of February 27, nearly 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza, the Associated Press reports.

After criticizing the United Nations and Gaza's neighbor's Egypt and Saudi Arabia, Stewart said there is "another player" who could campaign for a ceasefire in Gaza—Christians.

Jokingly referring to Christians as a "small religious start-up out of Bethlehem," Stewart cuts to a sermon by televangelist John Hagee.

"Jesus Christ is going to sweep over that battlefield and to annihilate that army of 200 million people," Hagee declares in the footage. "The blood will flow to the bridle of a horse."

Pretending to be stunned by Hagee's words, Stewart asks "so that's the plan for the Prince of Peace?"

Actually, John Hagee was referencing a dark prophesy in Revelation.

Revelation 14:20
And the wine press was trodden outside the city, and blood came out from the wine press, up to the horses’ bridles, for a distance of two hundred miles.

But this concept did not originate in Revelation, rather, it was from the Old Testament.

Zephaniah 3:8
Verse Concepts
“Therefore wait for Me,” declares the Lord,
“For the day when I rise up as a witness.
Indeed, My decision is to gather nations,
To assemble kingdoms,
To pour out on them My indignation,
All My burning anger;
For all the earth will be devoured
By the fire of My zeal.

Joel 3:12-14
Let the nations be aroused
And come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat,
For there I will sit to judge
All the surrounding nations.
Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe.
Come, tread, for the wine press is full;
The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great.
Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

I don't think anyone watching what is going now thinks, yea, this will end well. But the amazing thing is, these very prophesies are coming about before our eyes.

I believe what Stewart was mocking was the fact that Christians talk a good game when it comes peace but their dogma and belief system is rooted in violence...because..you know...God wills it. :)
Doesn't matter what Hagee was referencing. It's a tacit call for violence. Which Jesus never preached.

As a Christian I ask the same questions he does.
Every Christian struggles with the notion of a loving God and a suffering world.

This particular prophesy is just more of the same is all.

Your view is that God enjoys it.

That is not my view.

I don't think God enjoys our suffering any more than he enjoyed watching his Son tortured and die on a cross.

No. Christians invoking God and Jesus enjoy it. They believe that because they can't get their way through regular means, it must be solved with violence.
Jesus never gave any such speech.

Was using violence to overthrow Hitler a good thing?

What about Jesus chasing out the money changers with a whip?

Have you ever noticed these Christian groups never seem to instigate the violence?

Why do you cultists alwatys resort to Mumbo Jumbo once you cannot rationally defend a point?

The Elohim God that you cultists worship has not once helped you .
Could that be a message ?

The point I think is that prophesy tends to be given ahead of very turbulent times, as a way to let those of faith have comfort no matter who bad things may get.

Ain't no God so there are no worries
All those predictions came true by chance, eh?

What were even the odds that Israel would still exist as a nation today when that was written?

Mocking Christianity is sort of Stewart's thing. Although it's interesting to note that he had to change his own name from Jonathan Leibowitz to "Jon Stewart" in order to appeal to his "tolerant" leftist audience.
