Jon Stewart defends comedian who joked about Puerto Rico at Trump rally: ‘I find that guy very funny’

Yeah but do you think he personally invites all speakers who speak at his rallies? I don’t. Trump claims he doesn’t even know the comedian. The whole thing is being overblown
If he’s that careless do you really want him in the Oval Office?

'To be fair, the guy’s just really doing what he does,' Stewart said of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe

The Daily Show host Jon Stewart hit back at critics of comedian Tony Hinchcliffe's performance at former President Donald Trump's Madison Square Garden rally Sunday.

Stewart laughed as he said: "There’s something wrong with me. I find that guy very funny. I’m sorry, I don’t know what to tell you," in response to a montage of news anchors expressing indignation over Hinchcliffe’s jokes, Mediate first reported.

Hinchcliffe was widely criticized by media networks and politicians on Monday for his roast-style jokes, most notably when he called Puerto Rico a "floating island of garbage" in reference to the U.S. territory's overflowing landfills, as well as other digs at Hispanics and Black people that critics labeled racism.

BJ -

That guy stole the show at The Tom Brady Roast.
He is definitely on the rise.
Excited that major stars speak at Trump rallies.
It’s insult/roast comedy that’s all.

Not to mention black comedians mock white culture all the time. And it’s funny.

The radical left is nuts. They ruin entertainment and life in general.

That was actually at people, not at a situation. There is a difference.

Of course you won't see it.
Biden ain’t a comedian…that’s also the difference.

Kill Tony makes a living telling offensive jokes…

Remember we are talking with modern lefties….context and facts don’t matter to them.

So, of course had something like this happened at a Harris rally you would be more than willing to give her a free pass to....

whom am I kidding, we all know better than that

You're entirely off. For the moment, let's set aside that the guy has a long history of unapologetically racist content that merely uses the veneer of being comedy. The problem with the joke is that whole population of Puerto Ricans didn't wake up that day and asked to be roasted.

When you assemble people for a roast of whomever, everyone is a willing participant. Hell, when you're sitting around with your friends and making fun of each other, you're all willing participants. When you stand in front of the entire country and you make a "roast" of an entire ethnicity an appeal for political support, there is no element of consensual participation.

You've said this a couple times now, and seem to be keen to find a rationale to legitimize his joke. But there's really no basis to conclude that his joke was intended to be within the context of a current legitimate problem that exists in Puerto Rico. This guy does not have a history of using existing political crises, or obscure and nuanced information to underpin his "humor". He ONLY ever employs appeals to wide ranging simplistic stereotypes.
To bad it’s insult comedy

No one cares ..except the radical left…. it’s comedy get over your self. Many Puerto Ricans are not offended or think it’s funny.
