Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was indicted by a grand jury on Tuesday on a misdemeanor charge stemming from a domestic violence complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner and Texas A&M star was accused by ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley of hitting her and threatening to kill her during a night out on Jan. 30. Crowley said in court documents that Manziel struck her so hard that she temporarily lost hearing in one ear.

The indictment accuses Manziel of striking Crowley and ''forcing (her) into a vehicle and against a vehicle dashboard.''

Manziel faces a charge of misdemeanor assault related to family violence, which carries up to one year in jail and a $4,000 fine.

What a shame. Never liked him , but I hate to see what a lousy person he is. Some bully men are just that way though. And of course think they are never wrong.

I never liked him either and thought it was a big mistake to take him in the first round like he was taken. He is childish in the mind and believe he is god gift to humanity because he excelled in football, and won the highest award in college.

His career is done and he will be forever known as the waste of life he is. The one year in jail will most likely not happen but I am willing to bet unless he get help he will be in prison and in ten years dead from suicide.

Unfortunately I think you may be right.

What a disaster. This kid had a lot of question marks about his character when he was in college and obviously he didn't learn.

Toss another one on the heap.
.

Yep, and I can't help but wonder how much blame can be laid on mom and dad here. I know he is grown now, but the big oil family seem to have played to his every desire, and that isn't how real life goes...so he has a lot to learn, or he can stay on that heap.

Terrible person I do not care if he has a substance abuse issue. Laying hands and other antics are beyond the realm of reasonability.

The NFL is known for the violence of not only the game but off the field violence and law breaking as well. Those who enjoy the game need to be tolerant of this or make a decision to stop watching and supporting the game.

The NFL is crap, and has been for quite a long time, but this particular thread is about Johnny Manziel, and his life. I do not think the NFL indicted him.

And to think, the citizens of Texas paid for him to go to school and become the blight on society that he has become today. Wouldn’t it have been better to take whatever scholarship this doofus had, give it to 8-16 other students and seed the field with people who actually will contribute to the society?

Think Daddy's money will keep him out of jail??

Your OP starts off with "Former Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel"

"The Cleveland Browns released Manziel in March amid a multitude of off-field incidents, which included the assault investigation and substance abuse issues.

Even, "Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, who was known nearly as much for his off-field behavior as his brilliance between the sidelines, offered perspective on troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel in an interview with TMZ Sports on Tuesday.

"It's not the 1980s. It's not the early 1990s. You cannot do what you want to do in the NFL anymore," Taylor said."

Lawrence Taylor Comments on Manziel After Indictment

Can't control everything, sometimes one act is intertwined with a great many entities this time it is the NFL and the authorities.

No. They won’t need that. Some team somewhere will want him for the publicity and he’ll be given a slap on the wrist. “Wouldn’t the needs of society be better served with Mr. Manzel living out his potential? Certainly he can embetter himself an the victim’s standing if he were drawing a paycheck than being in jail.” or some argument like that.

I love the game, but I can't argue. These guys are not only immersed in a culture of encouraged violence, they're also treated like just this side of gods from high school on because of their talent.

You are probably right there too..

True, but hundreds and hundreds over the years have managed without the violence carrying over to beating up and threatening girlfriends etc.
He knows better..

You mention me I did not.

The splash made by Manziel and is antics have started a avalanche of moral and ehtical strictures which hopefully will have a positive impact on all of sports not just the NFL.

Spoiled and deified which leads to this type of behavior. I do believe that Maziel has an addiction problem in addition to his other issues, but this situation highlights what is a major problem in sports.

I agree. I did not mean to infer that only men were. Sorry.
