In discussing the Syrian refuge crisis Oliver featured a disabled from birth 16yo Syrian woman in a wheelchair who taught herself fairly decent English watching "Days of Our Lives." During her interview she mentioned how upset she was her fave character was killed off. John Oliver then at the end of his show gave the woman a surprise, a little video skit featuring the man playing his character with presumedly another star from the show where he comes back to life and during the dialogue actually mentions the young lady.

Crisis and politics aside, that was old school bad ass.
