Since when has “assimilation” returned to being a staple of the immigration and naturalization process?

John Kelly's great-grandfather, John DeMarco, is listed in census records as a day laborer who still did not speak English 18 years after coming to America. His wife still had a “No” in the “Speaks English” category 37 years after her arrival.

Kelly says undocumented immigrants 'don't have the skills' to assimilate into US society - CNNPolitics

John Kelly shouldn't be in this country. By his standards, his relatives should not have been allowed in. Kelly has joined the looney tune crowd of bootlickers. Mattis looks like the last sane person left.

Kelly is about 90% right. Very few are cut out to be Americans.
