Its so obvious he was a racist,WHY else would he have fired a defensive coordinater who turned around the Raiders fortunes turning them from one of the worst defenses in the NFL the prior year to one of the top 5 leagues best in just one year? The Raiders said that they did him a favor because it enhanced his chances to be a head coach but shaw was correct when he said that it only HURT his chances which was true the fact he never did get a head coaching job. Had Shaw been white Gruden NEVER would have fired him.

I even remember back then when watching Raider games the announcers saying about Shaw that he was an intelligent man and that he would probably be a head coach someday. well if he has been white he WOULD have been a head coach back then,we ALL know that.

The NFL is so racist,had he been white,owners would have been LINED UP to get him as their coach. The defensive coordinater that replaced Shaw, Chuck Bresnahan was HORRIBLE.their defense went to crap after they fired shaw. after Bresnahan later was fired by the raiders and went to the Bengals,I knew a bengals fan back then who was pissed he became their new defense coordinater and was right in being so,because the bengals defense went to hell as well when he joined them.

You would normally think Al Davis had his hands in this but thats not true because Gruden was the first coach sense Art Shell who actually WAS the coach instead of the puppet for Davis and had free rein of it without Davis looking over his shoulder.every coach after Art Shell was Davis's puppet but Gruden stood up to him and ran it HIS way which is why their fortunes finally turned around After idiot Davis fired Art Shell.

I actually think the person who sits there a hawks out the race of hires and makes assumptions that the only reason the black guy didn't get the job is because of racism is the racist.
