America needs an FDA commissioner who is suited to handle the public health challenges our entire country is facing.

That's not Dr. Robert Califf.

No one should be surprised by Manchin's opposition to Califf.

He was one of FOUR senators to oppose him in Feb. 2016 when Obama nominated him

another Manchin fail

"The Senate confirmed Robert Califf to lead the Food and Drug Administration in a 50-46 vote Tuesday, installing permanent leadership atop an agency critical to the pandemic response and responsible for regulating roughly 20 cents of every dollar spent by U.S. consumers.

With a permanent political leader in place after a 13-month holding pattern, the agency will be more empowered to move forward with sensitive policies and accelerate its regulatory agenda."

I don't think the FDA was who pushed the idea that they weren't addictive. That was the manufacturer.
