The right wanted Sarah Palin as VP. You're not allowed to discuss qualifications ever again.
Sarah Palin has qualifications that some of Biden's picks don't have. She was elected to the
city council of her home town, Wasilla, Alaska, and later, elected
mayor there. Got re-elected to that job, trouncing her opponent (apparently the people liked the job she was doing).
She was elected
president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. She got appointed to the
Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, which oversees Alaska's oil and gas fields, for safety and efficiency. She was named
chair of the commission and ethics supervisor.
She
forced 2 powerful but corrupt politicians to resign from their jobs (Randy Ruedrich and Gregg Renkes). She was director of Ted Stevens Excellence in Public Service, Inc.
She
defeated Frank Murkowski in the Republican primary for governor, and despite being outspent, she defeated the the incumbent governor of Alaska, Tony Knowles, and
became the Governor of Alaska. For most of her term, she was very popular with Alaska voters. Polls taken in 2007 showed her with 93% and 89% popularity among all voters. The
Anchorage Daily News and
The Weekly Standard called her "the most popular governor in America."
