Soaring inflation driving retired employees back to the workforce

Inflation rose 8.5% in July, remains near its highest level in 4 decades!

Retirement, even without growing concerns over a potential recession, has provoked feelings of stress and anxiety within people who have spent decades building up a career or running a business, according to an industry expert.

"Any type of change that you make can be perceived as a loss because you're giving up something to go to something else," Michael Liersch, the head of wealth and investment management advice and planning at Wells Fargo, told FOX Business.

Retirement isn't sitting on Adirondack chairs and gazing at the sun, Liersch said. Instead, it's a drastic shift from a familiar lifestyle that gives you a lot of social and cognitive benefits in terms of the challenges that you confront, he added.

You also have to adjust to a life where you no longer rely on employer benefits.

And by forcing people to take 2nd jobs to make ends meet.

Meanwhile, labor force participation is still as low as ever.

Other than the obvious that has been pointed out, a lot of people I know who retired during the pandemic are coming back because in addition to monetary issues, they are flat out bored. Oh, and inflation and the current economic issues?.....if Trump had been re-elected, he'd be dealing with the same stuff. :)

This is up to date.

Inflation is world wide.
Thanks to government all around the world spending wildly, causing shortages with the Covid shutdowns, and their war on fossil fuels

Yes, Leftism is a world wide epidemic that is killing us all.

I even hear that farmers cannot farm like they used to because government all around the world are limiting their use of fertilizer. Meanwhile, the UN says about a billion people will die of starvation.

Bulk fertilizers contain urea, phosphorus, sulfur and other stuff.. most are a byproduct of refining petroleum.

Exactly

Fertilizer is a carbon emitter, and as such, needs to be done away with.

That and the food it grows and the people it feeds.

You are a slow learner, but getting there.

Oh, and those fortunate enough to get food will be paying more for it due to the government created shortages.

You don't interfere with supply in the multitude of ways that potatohead has, then get to claim that the high price isn't your fault.

Biden didn't interfer with the supply chain. That was caused by fuel prices.

So the Paris Accord and the myriad of ways it was created to do away with fossil fuels have nothing to do with the fuel shortages.

For the record.

Correct?

Governments are concerned with fertilizer run off that cause red algae bloom and other oxygen destroying pollutants.

The unemployment rate has little meaning in the post-Pandemic era. It appears that millions have left the workforce only to realize that their income was not really necessary, or that it didn't improve their quality of life, so they simply don't work now.

As for retirees (I are one), there are lots of pretty good, pretty easy jobs out there right now, and the people I know who have gone back to work were just bored, and happy to be able to make a few bucks as "pin money" (must be over 70 to understand what that is).

Inflation is real, but don't forget, retirees are the richest demographic so most of us don't really give a shit. It's the "working poor" who get hit with it hardest of all. Pity. I hope they remember who caused it in November.

He signed numerous EOs on his first day that served to interfere with and curtail oil production, and you know it.

I'd say that you're being obtuse on purpose, if you weren't already the most obtuse blockhead on the forum.

So a billion plus will starve

Is that what you are saying?

Yes, that is what you are saying, people need to die.
