He was race a hustling poverty pimp
I have mixed feelings. Being from Chicago, I've watched him most of my life.
I'm old enough to remember when he instigated riots after the death of MLK. I was only six at the time, but I remember that summer, my dad showed my mom how to use a gun in case the rioters got to our city.
I remember how he used to say he'd spit in white people's soup and serve it with a smile.
I remember when he decided that Budweiser was the most evil company ever, until it gave distributorships to two of his sons.
But amazingly, in the 1980s, they made him an "elder statesman," and all that stuff got forgotten.
He was a self-aggrandizing promoter, but he also laid the foundation for those who followed, such as Obama and Harris.
