Rev Jesse Jackson, civil rights leader and Rainbow PUSH founder, dies at 84

"The Rev. Jesse Jackson, a longtime civil rights leader and two-time Democratic presidential candidate, died Tuesday morning at the age of 84, his family said in a statement.

Jackson ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 1984 and 1988, becoming one of the most prominent Black political leaders of his era and expanding his national profile beyond the civil rights movement.

Jackson is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; their children — Santita, Jesse Jr., Jonathan, Yusef and Jacqueline; daughter Ashley Jackson; and grandchildren."

Not gonna miss that P.O.S.

His relationship with Clinton got off to a tense start, when during the 1992 campaign, the future Democratic president used a speech at the National Rainbow Coalition to criticise Sister Souljah, the rapper, for fuelling anti-white sentiment and racial divisions in America. Jackson bristled, responding that Souljah “represents the feelings and hopes of a whole generation of people”.

Huh, I wondered why I had not seen him out and about race baiting with Al Sharpton for some time.

Oh well.

His race for the presidential nomination was derailed when he referred to NYC as “Hymietown.”

I guess it shows there’s nothing new with blacks making their life focus to fight bigotry revealing what bigots they are themselves.

Hope he's fully acclimated to HOT weather. I hear it's pretty warm down there.

He was race a hustling poverty pimp

Jesse was far from a perfect person, and he was very left wing, but he was still a huge improvement over homO, Crockett, Brandon Johnson etc.

RIP Jesse.

I always enjoyed watching Both Sides because it was a fair, professional, American political debate show, and Jesse was truly American in how he ran that show. We should have debate shows like Both Sides and Crossfire. Instead each network just pushes their view with guests who agree, boring and intellectually feeble.

Actually, he never really had a chance of getting the nomination either time.

It wasn't even the point of his run.

What was the point? To show that an unqualified black antisemite couldn’t win?
