It's a very long list actually. And most of it has been tossed by the courts for being unconstitutional. In several states it's still illegal (but it can't be enforced now) to have gay sex even in private.

I've said for years that Republicans would do really well among the Black and Hispanic communities if they would ever hit pause on their complete hatred of them. As a seperate example, before you conservatives turned on Muslims, you were winning over 70% of their votes. I agree with most of the GOP's fiscal policies, but everything in your lives is overruled by fear and hatred, and I can't support that.

I agree there are too many racist white people. Human nature is sad. There are a lot of racist black people too, believe it or not.

For the most part, the Republicans are simply saying that welfare does not motivate one to rise above poverty status and that the Democrats have grown a large voter base by essentially creating an environment that offers "free goodies" and that keeps far too many blacks on the welfare dole and prevents them from pulling themselves up into a better social position. This isn't the 30's, 40's or 50's. There are more black millionaires than you can count and opportunities for all.
Employers can't readily discriminate on wages anymore.

As far as Muslims....I think there is some validity in the fear. Islam and Christianity have been at odds for a long time...thousands of years. Why modern societies think they can ignore that is strange. It's not yet proven whether or not US based Muslims will integrate peacefully OR...turn radical once their numbers are sufficient. If history is an indication (and modern Europe), Western civilizations may face severe problems as the size of Muslim communities and the population grows. There is a LOT of hatred in Islamic communities against the West.

The "free market" is what was impeding on rights throughout our history. Legislation is what has been used to right the ship and stand up for oppressed minorities.
