When I originally got my smartphone and wanted some stuff, a friend of mine told me Amazon was a good way to go.

Not so much......................

I've been a member for 3 to 4 years, and have had many things that took much longer to get to me than what Amazon promised. If it was something I could wait for or didn't need immediately, it didn't bother me.

HOWEVER..................

Living in CO during the winter with snow and negative zero temps, it's kinda important to have a car. I called Amazon and asked about the part. They said it was in stock but would require a week or so to get to me. I'm retired, the snow was coming, so I could wait a week.

2 weeks later, the part hasn't shipped, the operator can't tell me why, and worst of all, they say it's not their fault. Really? A business that tried to build themselves on prompt and quit shipping with no problems?

The only reason I'm willing to keep Amazon Prime isn't because of their shipping (which sucks balls), but because of the streaming services. And, while I'm old and used to commercials, it seems like they are packing more and more into their programming.

If Amazon keeps up with this bullshit, I'm leaving and I hope they go broke because of the crappy service in the past couple of years.

Fuck Bezos, and Fuck Amazon for crappy service while promising better.

Amazon and Walmart use third parties for much of what they sell. All you can do is cancel your order and shop elsewhere or wait.

I quit buying from Amazon the minute they proudly announced that they'd pay for their employees' abortions.

Shifted most of my buying to eBay, until I realized that many of their sellers use Amazon's shipping and logistics service. I'll go through the hassle of finding an eBay seller who will not use this service, thus giving my money to Amazon.

"Bezos and Amazon suck major ass".

Be careful when you order, not everything has 2 day shipping, even for prime members. If it does, and you don't get it in 2 days, ask for a refund or a credit on your account. They almost always do this, and if it's a low value item, sometimes they just give a refund and don't even ask for a return. It's happened to me several times.

Yanno, even if I had to go through a third party, I still made sure that we could both deliver. In the Navy we never promised anything that couldn't do. Amazon is becoming famous for that, because they are not saying that they get 60 percent of their products from independent.

A decent company would at least try to get a decent guarantee of reliability. Apparently Amazon doesn't care about the customer, just as long as they can keep peddling their bullshit about lowest prices (they aren't) and fastest shipping(they fall WAY short.

Like I said, Amazon sucks, Bezos is a liar and an asshole, and I'm kinda sorry I believed the hype

I have gotten weary of ordering anything online for fear it will at some point end up in the hands of the postal service during its delivery. Not too long ago I had a priority mail letter take 18 days to get delivered 2 states away.

Anymore, I try to buy as much as I can from local brick and mortars.

I've never used Amazon, and I'm sure that I never will. Though a lot of folks seem to like it.

Hardware stores have become obsolete. And the Home Depot and Lowe's type stores mainly just carry that shit Chinese ash metal stuff. So if I need some good aircraft stainless, I have to order that online, just as an example. But there are dedicated places to get that stuff. Same with car parts. If I can't find it in NAPA, I'l go to some place like Summit Racing to order.

Never Amazon or anything like that.

What Amazon did is show folks how to find products without using Amazon.

Since they offer just about everything, it's like honey to flies, but when I decided to stop using them, I started learning more about going right to the source for my needs.

Their "free shipping" became farcical, and that was the one thing keeping me using them. As the shipping went downhill, I learned to use the information they presented to find what I needed from other sources, often the manufacturers.

I will be happy when I learn that Amazon has suicided itself with their shit woke policies.

Shipping costs are the biggest scam going, if you ask me.

A lot of times I'll order something from a vendor that's very small, but then they put it in a big ass box loaded with bubble wrap and whatnot and I end up paying for all of that, whereas they coulda just stuck it in one of those plastic shipping envelopes and saved me half the shipping costs.

Where I live it's the best option.

Yep. Makes me crazy when they do that.

You know, there are a few on here who think like me. I've always gone to brick and mortar stores, but then the told me, yes they sell it, but I'd have to order it, so I switched to Amazon. Now that Amazon is SLOWER than the store for ordering, I think a 3 to 5 day wait from the store is better than the 1 to 3 weeks waiting from a company that promises (but doesn't provide) faster shipping. I think another on this thread has the right idea as well.......do the research on Amazon.com and others, but then go directly to the manufacturer or source. Amazon might have been good at one time but not anymore.

I am involved in a hobby. There used to be many brick-and-mortar outlets that supported my hobby and I don't think there are any today. It's a great sadness, because the brick-and-mortar shops were the hubs where we got far more than just products -- we got fellowship and classes and exhibitions. No matter how many Facebook groups there are for my hobby, it's not like being able to go and meet with people. We got to see colors and feel textures and be confident about quality before we bought a product.

If there is anyone reading this thread who knows an executive at Amazon, send a link to this thread so they can see how bad their service is now sucking.

When I raced bicycles, I would sometimes order from a mail order shop. However because I knew the value of the shop and the people who came there, if they could meet the price point at 10 to 15 percent over what the price was via mail, I bought from the shop and not the mail. Yes, brick and mortar shops are worth it. Colorado Cyclist was a good mail ordering place. Amazon sucks ass.

I thought with your background and that thread title, you'd be overjoyed!

Amazon used to be more careful about vendors who sold products on their site.

Then they really upset vendors by having issues paying the vendors promptly. Claiming products did not ship etc. (Porch pirates) And some people were over using the "porch pirate" policy and getting refunds for products they had received.

Then phoney vendors flooded Amazon. You can no longer trust the "Verified purchase" testimonials whatsoever. ALL THE METRICS used to verify this was a reputable company that you were considering buying a product from were phoney.

On top of this the book department where people sold books....people were plagiarizing author's works and then the thieves claimed the original author stole their work having the original author scrambling to prove themselves. Often failing to navigate their system....losing all their hard work to a thief.

Amazon is not as good as it once was. It's full of various scams. Just the same as Google shopping is often full of scam vendors....

Jeff Bezos created the platform BUT he has not been involved with the company for over 6-7 years. He got ousted by the Board a long time ago and can be found on his yacht or one of a dozen vacation homes.

Shame on you. Should have given your business to a mom-and-pop store. Bezos does not need another jet plane on his tarmac.

Which I started doing, the day that Amazon proudly announced that they were going to use my money to kill unborn babies.

That's always good, support a cause. Personally, I do it to help the small businesses. I don't shop at Amazon anyway, I only do so when I have a gift card.
