That after 2.5 years of the war Ukraine still doesn't control 20% of its territory, and it was unable to make any significant gains since 2022. The war is being waged on its territory that devastates its infrastructure, fertile land, energy sector etc.

"Else facts from the map" are that Russia has seen very little territorial gain since it's big retreats at the end of 2022. So for their big war costs they are seeing have little to no pay-off.

The theory of Ukranian victory after the failure of last summer's offensive is that Russia relatively small, heavily sanctioned economy can't keep up with the war effort resource support for Ukraine by 50+ countries.

The longer this goes on, the better positioned for victory Ukraine becomes. If Ukraine and it's allies remain commited to that path Russia has no feasable means to avoid eventual defeat.

Trump's election would put into question allied commitment to support of Ukraine and thats exactly what Putin is holding out for.
