Oh my. Russia do want Alaska, as America do want Crimea. "It would be nice to have it, but we are not ready to pay even one million of our civilian lifes for it, and we do know, that the other side is ready to sacrifice even fifty million of the lifes to keep it".
And it means that Russia won't really try to take Alaska while America keeps capability to kill at least one million of Russians. And American nuclear arsenal, however weak and obsolete, is pretty capable of it. And if American nuclear arsenal will be degraded below this border, the Russians will be one of the lesser problems of America.
And no, there is a price of war, and there is a price of peace. The peace (and so called alliance) with Japan already had cost America significant part of the high-end electronic market (say nothing about cars).
And no, if Americans actually fear "innumerable Russian hordes, invading Alaska", they'd better return their industrial and electronic capabilities back in America (and if it means deindustrialization and depopulation of Japan - its only Japanese misfortune).
