Japan elects first-ever female prime minister...and she's based AF

I liked that she specifically mentioned getting rid of the Muslims..... Good for her. I hope her entire term is successful.
This remarkable woman, for example, believes that Japan did not commit any crimes during the war, but rather liberated the peoples of Asia from european colonialism. I repeat, a remarkable woman, especially for an american.

Japan is prohibited from entering into external conflicts under the US-Japan Status of Forces Agreement of 1954. They are limited to the Japanese Self-Defense Forces. The US is bound to defend Japan under this agreement.

Japan Self-Defense Forces

Unified military forces of Japan
The Japan Self-Defense Forces are the military forces of Japan. Established in 1954, the JSDF comprises the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. They are controlled by the Ministry of Defense with the Prime Minister as commander-in-chief. Since the end of the Cold War, and particularly into the 21st century, increased tensions with North Korea, China, and Russia have reignited debate over the status of the JSDF and their relationship to Japanese society. Japan cannot attack other countries but can defend itself if attacked

The grey area involves Taiwan

If china invades them Japan pledged support for the Taiwanese

And china has threatened war against any other country that interferes

Taiwan is not Japan. Not part of the JSDF agreement. However the US will provide support, training and materiel to Taiwan as part of the Taiwan Relations Act. Pretty much what the US has provided for the area since 1954. Japan is just a staging area for operations by the US.

I called it a grey area

Japan has territory within spitting distance of Taiwan that china also claims

But its arguable

In any case if America stands fast Japan will do so too

Trump signed the Taiwan Assurance Implementation Act, updating of guidelines on official U.S.-Taiwan interactions. The bill allows Taiwanese officials to visit and hold meetings with U.S. federal agencies, coordinating anti-China policies with Washington. Xi called Trump to complain about Takaichi's Taiwan remarks that inflamed tensions between China and Japan. You don't have to pay lip service to the One China policy, which is what Takaichi and Trump do.

After Washington severed diplomatic ties with the Republic of China (Taiwan) in 1979, the State Department established internal "red lines" governing contact between U.S. diplomatic, military and other officials and their Taiwanese counterparts.

In January 2021, during Trump's first term, then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the termination of all existing restrictions on U.S.-Taiwan contacts.

The Biden administration later reinstated contact guidelines but relaxed them, allowing routine meetings between U.S. officials and Taiwanese representatives at federal agencies and at Taiwan's representative office in Washington.
