This isn't a binary situation. There is another way that doesn't include shunning your own child or
feeling "pride" in someone because they've decided they are going to be fashionable and
reject their own biological gender.
Children want and appreciate boundaries. Parents like Jamie Lee Curtis likely have provided few if
any boundaries for her child which a child secretly processes as a lack of love and concern from his mother.

We have 17 year old twins and an adopted 17 year old, all girls. Each of them have told their father and I they hated boundaries but are now glad we put them there.
As they mature they understand...and in life they'll do the same. I really believe it's a generational thing. Passed down
