First complaint about Epstein was in 1996.
Investigation started 2001.
Jailed on a plea deal 2008 and did 18 months on a release during the day.
He was arrested again and properly investigated in 2019.

So that is 23 years from complaint to actual jail (and was convicted at that stage).

If you got money in US, you can string along investigations for years, especially if it is white collar crime... The Trump Admin has slashed the white collar crime division in the FBI...
