No downside to them....their voters love this sort of “I’m lying and you can’t do anything about it.” They see it as “owning the libs”.
One of the very few times there was a downside to the extensive and heretofore unimaginable dishonesty of the Trump/Vance ticket was experienced last Tuesday when, for the first time really, the press called the blob out on his lies where it mattered. If you want to know why the blob won’t do another debate, that is the reason. All it takes is one moderator to say while 65M people are watching, “that’s not true”. There is no diversion he can pull, no “I’m not going to call on you any more” like he did in the press conference, etc...
So as long as there is no forum to where you can really hold their feet to the fire and make them sorry for their lies; they keep on telling them.
