I would use Cote d´ Ivoire if I was Frenching ... but if I'm Englishing, then I use Ivory Coast ... and Chad, and Germany, and Switzerland ... although I do understand they get to spelt their name however they wish ... I certainly can't pronounce Glasgow the way it's supposed to ...

Where the hell is Helvetia? ... haha ...
Helvetia is Latin for Switzerland, Schweiz, la Suisse etc etc

it is NOT a new name.
the point is, that is verboten to translate it into other languages

Screw their rules. Their rules do not apply to the world. Besides, Cote d Ivoire is simply french for Coast of Ivory.

i ignore those rules when i write in German Elfenbeinküste.

English speakers wouldn't understand you ... all my literature says "Ivory Coast" although I know the postage stamps themselves say "Cote d' Ivoire" ...

Do they even speak French there? ... I don't know ... you'd think they'd speak their own native tongues ... it's just the white people there complaining ... do they have a mail system, or do they print postage stamps strictly for the revenue from collectors? ...

Do you think French is the native tongue there? ... that's a real white thing to say ...

"Ivory Coast" is the name imposed on the people there ... it doesn't matter which European language you use, it's still oppressive ... we make slaves speak the language we demand ... or we tie them to a post and whip them ...

Côte d’Ivoire sounds prettier
