Right now they come here because they know that business owners will be willing to hire them. They come here knowing that they'll be able to find work somehow. But what if that were changed? If they know in advance that employers take a substantial risk in hiring them as the fines will be YUUUUGE, they'll know that only a handful of business owners might be willing to actually take them on and help them through the process. Those spots will be filled quickly, leaving many illegals no choice but to return home. They simply won't find enough work here. The next logical step would be to decide to go through the immigration process legally on their own.

Ok. I figured someone telling business owners they are idiots if they can't figure out to pay all their employees $15 an hour would at least have some employees they are paying (all) at least $15/hr. Got it.

Uh, well...yeah. If you can't pay your employees $15 an hour, then you shouldn't be in business, or you shouldn't have any employees. My business is structured differently, and I never wanted to have any employees. However, I could easily have a couple guys working for me if I wanted to. $15 an hour working full time is only $2400 a month.
