It’s the sun and it’s coming for us

When the sun hits Earth with a big solar flare and CME, the electrical grid could be irreparable damaged. Experts think this could be coming in our life time. Sending mankind back to a pre-electrical age, resulting in mass death.

This has been known for a long time but until recently, the msm hasn’t reported it.

Solar Cycle 25 is Exceeding Predictions and Showing Why We Need the GDC Mission

With more activity comes an increase in space weather events including solar flares and solar eruptions, which can impact radio communications, electric power grids, and navigation signals, as well as pose risks to spacecraft and astronauts. We have an increasing dependence on space-based technology and ground-based infrastructure that are susceptible to the dynamic nature of space.

Moonie Loonies

More $care $tories from NA$A, propagated to get funding for the astrogeeks' pet projects. Instead of this childish Trekkie circus, we need to get down to earth by exploring the planet's immense untapped resources down to the core.

If this happened today it would be a disaster.

Blimey, for decades they've harped on about the earth potentially getting whacked by a solar flares, how it's gonna knock out satellites and the national grid etc....but feck all ever comes of it.

It already happened once.

Things are changing. The magnetic field is weakening. A big flare and cme that 50 years ago wouldn’t be a problem, might be today.

You might have forgotten the event in Quebec in the 1989 that blew their transformers and shut down the grid there.

Interesting…

IN 7176 BCE, THE SUN ERUPTED IN WHAT MAY BE THE BIGGEST BLAST IN 10,000 YEARS

Immense solar storm occurred over 9,000 years ago that would be devastating today.

We know of several big ones that have happened in the past century or two, but historic storms can be discovered as well. Looking at ice cores from Greenland and Antarctica, scientists just announced they found a new one. It occurred in 7176 BCE, and it was huge, possibly the largest in the past 10,000 years (link to paper).

I’d like to believe our government and energy companies are doing what they can to safeguard the grid, but how much has really been done?

IDK, but... "Three years of electromagnetic pulse simulations and testing by the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI) show that America’s electrical grid could withstand the impact of an EMP triggered by a nuclear weapon, according to research findings released on Tuesday by the independent, nonprofit group." EPRI report says existing tech would protect U.S. grid against electromagnetic pulses - Daily Energy Insider

Apparently there is a bill pending in the Senate supposedly designed to harden the grid. Introduced this past June.
