You will be doing this very soon.

Trade wars are like lighting a match in a dry forest—quick to start, slow and painful to put out. Trust between nations is hard-won and easily lost. And while tariffs and policy shifts can happen overnight, rebuilding alliances, stabilizing markets, and restoring public confidence can take years, sometimes decades.

America needs to prepare for some very bad times ahead. Most likely, higher inflation that will giveaway to a recession.

The fact that both the Trump administration and China both believe war is inevitable is more troubling than the economy.

In American we see an economic war and military war as totally separate conflicts. China does not.

Trump blew up the economy and he's golfing right now.

Last month, I paid $35 for my prescription from Canada. This month, it's jumped to $59—a staggering 68% increase. I was also considering a high-quality 50-foot garden hose at Home Depot. A couple of months ago, it was $44. Today, it's $55—up 25%. I expected some price increases, maybe around 15%, but this is beyond unreasonable.

Meanwhile, 12.9 million Americans work in manufacturing, making up just 9.6% of the total U.S. workforce. That means the other 90% of us are left to bear the burden of rising costs, with no real evidence that tariffs will revive American manufacturing jobs. So, who really benefits?
All this happened yesterday? Fucking disingenuous liar.

If Canada was a friend, they wouldn't have huge tariffs on American goods.

Democrats need to sell sell sell before it's to late.
What huge tariffs does Canada place on US goods? Identify them, with documentation. Until Trump started his bullshit almost all goods traded duty free between the United States and Canada. I mean I can't wait to see what you dig up. But fair warning, if you try that milk tariff bullshit I will make your ass look like a fool.

He said this month you flippin meathead. And prices, at the wholesale level, have been climbing significantly in the last month, especially in the volatile food and energy markets.

I suspect companies will try to fleece the rubes (never let a crisis go to waste) but it will even out by and by.

If the difference in the price of a garden hose (seasonal item) causes you to clutch your pearls, you need to reevaluate.
That rube thinks it's immune ^^^

You get that it's the 4th and the tariffs didn't kick in until the day before yesterday, right?

Just like from the pandemic, prices went up and stayed up. The next increases will do the same. They won't go down.

I Never Thought Trump Would Eat My Face

In 2015, writer Adrian Bott famously tweeted: “‘I never thought leopards would eat MY face,’ sobs woman who voted for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.” This went viral, coining the phrase, “Leopards ate my face.” It’s so tempting to mock people who act against their own interests such as Trump voters.

Can't spell or do math either.

When Trump says a 25% tariff, most people assume that an item selling for $100 will become $125, not so.

When items go through customs, the custom's agent figures the Customs Value which is the retail invoice cost assume $100 + insurance and shipping, assume $10+ the exporter fee, say another $10 so the Custom value is $120. making the custom fee at 25% or $30. With a wholesaler markup of 15%, the fee is now 34.50. The average retail markup is 40%. Thus the fee increases from 34.50 to 48.30. The retail cost will be $100 + 48.30 or $148.30. So that 25% tariff becomes 48.30 to the retail customer or an increase in retail price of 48.3%. Hopefully retailers will absorb part of the increase, but I wouldn't count on it.
