1) You not being aware doesn't mean people are not hostile. There are a number of people who are regularly hostile
2) Non of the US business what goes on inside Nicaragua. The better question is 'why did the Sandinistas come about in the first place?' The party was not formed in a vacuum. They are socialists, not communists. There is a difference. And they have been voted in in the past 3 elections. The 17 years previous to that they were not in power. I'm glad Carter did nothing.
