it's all in Atlas Shrugged...

She doesn't claim we're all equal.
Quite the opposite; she was an egotistic little Nazi who should have been...well, I won't go that far.
She was a useless, do nothing but write novels, POS.
Yes she was, "an egotistic little Nazi" as you say, preaching the RW conservative message of the time with the twist that Objectivism and its inherent child of Selfishness were the foundational cornerstones of the truly Free Individual as she saw it from her twisted perspective! And Paul Ryan and his ilk hold her in very high regard as the second coming!
She believed in "rational self interest," not "selfishness," whatever that's supposed to mean.

So how was she wrong? Freedom means doing what you want, not what other people tell you to do.
Read what I wrote about Objective Realism.
Expressing your distain for "selfishness" doesn't explain how she was wrong.
Ayn Rand was, "Make Me Great" regardless of how your decisions affect others.

i just watched this well made three part movie. watch it, see if life doesn't imitate art.
even scarier is the latest season of house of cards.

Atlas Shrugged is unmitigated idiocy, Nietzsche Lite for Americans – completely devoid of originality and merit, it’s the sophomoric foundation of failed, wrongheaded conservative/libertarian dogma.

I am most grateful for this thread.

We had seen the movie, parts 1 and 2, in a theater but said theater (the only one in reasonable distance) was hit with such violent protest when showing #2 that they didn't run 3. Fortunately Amazon is not so much a wuss and it was possible to see it for about four (4, liberals) bucks. It didn't seem as good as parts 1 and 2; felt as though they had to rush through parts to keep it short enough to stay within budget.

Gee, you libs gonna boycott Amazon now?

That's funny coming from a snowflake who believes in altruism - unmitigated idiocy, in other words.

Nope; you're very Conservative so her writing soothes your emotional state.
I get it.
But she was a selfish POS who created monsters like Cheney.

That's a stretch. I don't think Cheney ever read Rand.

I have no problem with people looking out for their own self interest. It's as natural as breathing.

  1. I've read it several times

Ayn Rand was s selfish bitch who couldn't get over herself.
She was Alan Greenspan's inspiration for allowing the Housing Bubble to almost destroy the planet's economy.
Atlas Thugged

She had a criminal mind and a desperate need to glorify Greedhead looters. She appeals to pathetic nobodies who want justification to make as much money as they can, as quickly as they can, any way they can, walking tall by walking all over people.

Her favorite slur is "moocher," yet she has no problem glorifying HeirHead parasites. At least she told the truth by making the main Socialists in her book rich kids. But she felt they were driven by guilt instead of by a drive for extending their unearned hereditary power by misleading the common people. In an atheist's superstition anointing them as God's favorites, her goal was to appeal to the spoiled brats to not feel guilty about anything and assert themselves as inheriting superior genes, so that whatever their greediest materialistic urges told them to do must be what they, and only they, deserve to do.
how about the fountainhead ?
Cowed by the Loud

Roark may be a legitimate hero, but in reality most of Rand's followers are more puff than substance. I get the same impression from Nietzsche. He urges us to assert ourselves, but most of those who do that are bullies or other pushy people who are conceited with no reason to be proud of themselves, such as HeirHeads with their unjustified "Born to Rule" attitude.

And we supposedly have representatives to control such behavior for the "common welfare".

they're worth going back to. i waited for each of the three, but last week i took the time to watch all three. i'll say again, they are thoughtfully done, each has new people to play the parts, but the writing (screenplay) is pretty close to home. the effects are great, it's projected on a grand scale.

then i watched all of house of card's new season, easy to see where obama got his script.

liberals hate this philosophy, one reason i like it so much.

it's a story, a work of fiction, and the liberals want it burned, and it's author to burn with it in perpetuity. so maybe there's a clue.

take a swing at this trotsky.

"I pledge by my life and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine", said John Galt ..

Wait a minute, are angry incoherent lefties trying to make a case, based on a 50 year old novel, that socialists like Bernie Sanders are the new future while all business tycoons are evil people out to destroy the world? Ignorance is one thing but profound ignorance from angry incoherent border line psychotic lefties who were educated on video games and Hollywood trash seems to be the rule rather than the exception these days.

No.

Actually, its "angry incoherent lefties trying to make a case, based on a 50 year old novel" ......

that we should run our country on rather simplistic ideas that have no basis on reality.

Its just stunning that the Speaker of the House FORCES his employees to read that idiotic novel.

good fucking god - You fools need to grow up, get a clue.
