A company controlled by
Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president, secretly conducted business in Communist Cuba during Fidel Castro’s presidency despite strict American trade bans that made such undertakings illegal, according to interviews with former Trump executives, internal company records and court filings.
Donald Trump’s company violated the U.S. embargo against Cuba
~sigh~
This isn't a scandal, and even if it was, it wouldn't be on Trumps company.
Once again, the entire left-wing is completely ignorant and being played like a doggy-toy by the left-wing elite.
Interestingly, none of the people on the right seem to have picked up on this either.
First, the Trump casino and hotel company in question did not send a single Trump employee to Cuba. The company hired an outside consulting firm, named Seven Arrows, to do an exploratory mission to Cuba.
It wasn't to allow Trump a "foothold" in Cuba should the embargo be removed. It was an open-ended mission.
Now what they claim, is that Seven Arrows, didn't have the proper license to do this. Whether that is true, or not true, doesn't matter because the Trump company had no knowledge of this either way. They hired a consultant to do a job, and it was up to them to determine what licenses they needed, and to get them.
Second, and more importantly, Trump already answered every possible question about the entire deal, in a 1999 published op-ed that he personally wrote.
Several large European investment groups have asked me to take the “Trump Magic” to Cuba. They have “begged” me to form partnerships to build casino-hotels in Havana. With the influx of foreign tourists, we would make a fortune, they promise, and they are no doubt right. They are also right to say that this type of arrangement would allow me to skirt the U. S.-imposed embargo.
But rushing to join those who would do business in Cuba would do more than that. It would place me directly at odds with the longstanding U. S. policy of isolating Fidel Castro. I had a choice to make: huge profits or human rights. For me, it was a no-brainer.
….
Foreign investors are not allowed to hire or pay Cuban workers. They must pay the government directly for the workers. Castro then pays the workers in worthless Cuban money and keeps the rest. Under these circumstances, my investment cannot help average Cubans — it can only replace the Soviet subsidy Castro no longer receives.
So Trump made it clear what the result of the exploratory mission was, and what decision he had made. No charges were brought against Trump then, and none will come against him now.
Besides that, it is impossible to even attempt a comparison between this, and the massive scandals surrounding every aspect of Clinton.
This is a non-issue. Get over it, and good night.
