It Was Just a Halftime Show. The Meltdown Reveals How Dumb We’ve Become

The dude won 3 Emmy’s. He is popular. Super Bowl typically chooses the most popular acts to perform. It isn’t rocket science
He’s so popular you thought he won three Emmy’s

Hahaha

Since 2019, Jay-Z has picked the half time show, it’s no surprise that Bad Bunny, who might be good, but has a niche market got picked given Jayz interest in Live Nation

Americans speak their minds. Football is an American CULTURE sport. I dont want to listen to Spanish.

So it SUCKS. Those that dont like my opinion. I could care less

My thought during the whole thing.

It's all because he/she/it would never have gotten away with singing that filth if he/she/it had sung it in English.

Filth.

I am going to admit, I didnt watch this halftime show but decided to watch it on twitter. He looks like a guy doing a halftime show for Mexico or Puerto Rico.

Furthermore, the Spanish aside, there is nothing unique about his music that I have not heard walking by a latin club. Creativity stimulates the brain, this music was just repetitive, some different words, same cadence, same theme. This lack of creativity perhaps resonates across different industries and/or a lack of innovation (Canada suffers much of the same TBH).

People have to decide to support the NFL or not. I have not watched a SB since Brady so I am ok I guess. Certainly HF shows have rarely interested me.

Same comment on the Obamas animated "Ape" snippet.

You speak like my racist colleague from Mississippi. Trump knew what he was doing. He didn't even bother to apologize.

His supporters will think it's great. "Yeah, he got to racially abuse the Obamas, but the video had Biden as an ape, so we can pretend it wasn't racist" bullshit.

It's pop music... in a world of instant entertainment, of a total lack of concentration, it has to be rubbish.

People who listen to this "music" do not need music. They need gimmicks.

This Bunny thing has a ton of attitude, demanding that everyone learn Spanish so they can listen to him/her/it perform, and he/she/it is gay or some other sexual deviancy.

Gimmicks.

Not music.

It's just like Dolly Parton -- not a wonderful voice, but huge breasts.

Or Charley Pride -- mediocre voice, but the first black man in country music.

Gimmicks.

I agree. To me, all "Latin" music sounds the same.

The question is though, why would anyone spend money on the music? This astonishes me. In my entire life I have always been selective in what I purchased. People buying this music are just basically spending money on a loaf of bread at a premium price.

The author laid this out perfectly. Many of you on both the right and the left played your parts perfectly. You operated as programmed and never once thought for yourselves.

The conservative backlash wasn’t really about music. It was about discomfort with change and the refusal to admit that not everything is designed to feel familiar anymore. The progressive overpraise wasn’t really about art either. It was about signaling moral alignment and extracting symbolic meaning from something engineered to be disposable. Both reactions inflated the significance of a spectacle precisely because triviality does not feed engagement.

That’s the part worth lingering on. We now live in an ecosystem where boredom is intolerable and neutrality is suspicious. Everything has to be a fight. Every cultural artifact must be processed through a partisan lens or it feels wasted. A halftime show cannot just exist. It has to offend, affirm, threaten, or redeem.

The saddest part is how joyless this all feels. The Super Bowl used to be a night where people argued about commercials and laughed at the excess of it all. Now it’s another venue for pre-scripted outrage, another excuse to perform allegiance. Nobody looks happy doing this. They look committed.

The problem with last night wasn’t the halftime show. It was the hunger to turn a forgettable performance into a referendum.

Since I ignore the hoopla and focus on the athletic contest, I thought Trump's ridiculous hyper-partisan whining would be the major perversion of the event, but the game itself was so boring, I could summon up a modicum of interest if some disgruntled goober were to concoct an alternative game.

Were the "lib"-obsessed more pissed than usual when the performer delivered an apolitical performance?

The libs didn't get their panties in a bunch and do an alternate half time with D list groups.

Well at least you admit you wear panties
