It simply doesn't hold water.

Wow. You just aren't getting it are you? Where did I say it was solely 'my' government? Did I not acknowledge that this government is under the will of the people? There is no possible way that it will bend to my will alone, such is foolish thinking. Oddly enough you told me not to assume what you were thinking, yet here you are trying to read my mind.

YOU DARE TO FEIGN IGNORANCE?

You do remember that post, right?

 Poor, persecuted Templar.

Your right to free speech doesn't negate mine. Calling you on your bullshit isn't "dictating your speech", it's using my own.

You sure do. And you have the power to throw tantrums about the First Lady's pet projects on message boards, too.

You don't have the power to "allow" or not allow the government to do anything, though.

Just a question though: If the government did indeed belong to 'all' of the people, why are you the one saying it doesn't belong to me? Interesting.

I don't think I understand your question. I'm "the one" saying it because this is a message board, and I'm responding to your post.

You have no remaining arguments other to speak down to me. Frankly, you misread my initial post all the way, thinking that I alone had sole control over my government. Try reading carefully next time. Forgive my insolence, Doc, but you sound more like a troll than a reasonable opponent in what was a reasonable debate.

You take care, Doc. I'm moving on, regardless of whether you choose to move past your indignation or not.

Perhaps you're right. I saw your initial post as arrogant and self-aggrandizing, a self-righteous claim that because you live here, you should have some sort of veto power against any and all acts of the government that you don't agree with. Maybe I got that wrong.

And you're right, I am being a little bit of an asshole here, for which I apologize. But don't attempt to claim any sort of "clean hands" - your entire argument seems to be based around some fantasy of yours that I support the government having "supreme authority" over what we eat, which from where I sit is pretty far from "reasonable debate".

You take care as well. Perhaps we'll meet again in another thread.

But alas, I will reserve my fervor for more important things. The things that actually matter, namely my freedom, and the malfeasance going on in Washington regarding Syria. Arguing over whether the government tells you to drink water or not is of no consequence. I simply find it insulting to my intelligence to know my government doesn't trust me with my own dietary needs.

Good day.

And the Bush wives didn't trust you not to use drugs or read books...I'm sure you were equally outraged and "insulted".

It was inevitable a liberal would bring Bush into the discussion. How freaking predictable.

Playing the "BOOOOOSH" get out of jail free card won't work here.

Every First Lady in the last 50 years has had their own pet projects, and getting outraged about them now is a little ridiculous if you never got outraged about them before.

Water is bad now? If Michelle came out and said protect your children Repubs would be tossing them off the nearest overpass.

Drink water: Cons say BOOO
Exercise: Cons say **** you
Pirates: Cons say kill 'em
Obama kills Pirates: Cons say "He shouldn't have killed them"
Libya: Cons say "Do it...wait, no don't....wait..."

Drink water: Yes
Exercise: Yes
Pirates: Kill'em
Libya: Stay OUT

Guess you are wrong, nice try.

Yes, I was talking about you personally.

I noticed that's a common thing with Repubs...they seem to think everything is about or directed at them personally like this thread so "Drinking water is healthy" is seen as an attack on them.

"Don't force ME to drink more water"
"If I drink too much water I will Die, Michelle wants ME to die"
"My doctor told me to reduce my liquids and Michelle wants ME to go against my Doctor"

Kids don't drink water. They drink soda and so-called fruit juice which, in FACT, is just sugar water.

WTF is wrong with rw's that they are so dead set against healthy food AND water for their kids?

Actually, I think I've figured it out - they're all diabetic and they want their kids to get an early start on their own diseases.

I can state as a fact that neither of my sons drink soda.
Two have never tasted it.
I haven't had a soda in 25 years.
If I drank more water it could be dangerous.

Good for you!

BTW, "neither" suggests two in standard English. You have more than two sons.....but inly two have never tasted soda? Is that it?

If you eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, you don't need to drink tons of water (8 glasses is tons). At least 8 glasses of water was recommended years ago, when people were big meat eaters. Now, with all the information we have at our disposal about the hazards of eating meat, people are turning to vegetarian and vegan diets. There is lots of fluid in fruits and vegetables, especially fruit. Drink when you are thirsty otherwise you are simply flushing away the digestive juices in your stomach. Something along those lines. :)

Meat is why fire was discovered!

Agree with eating lots of veggies and fruits. But drinking water in addition to those (not gobs of water) helps keep your skin hydrated ... erm, less wrinkly. :D

Pretty sure drinking water doesn't flush away your digestive juices. You should drink enough water and eat enough good food so that your pee is a very light/nearly clear in color. Or so I've heard.

Washington (CNN) – The truth about water, first lady Michelle Obama says, is that drinking more can make you healthier. Except some health experts are critical of the advice, arguing that it simply doesn't hold water.

Obama this week was joined by the Partnership for a Healthier America in encouraging Americans to "drink up."

According to a release, the campaign is meant to "remind people that drinking more water helps you have more energy to do more, longer and with better focus."

Not so fast, experts told CNN's "New Day."

"There's no good evidence that drinking extra water is going to lead to a healthier existence," said Dr. Stanley Goldfarb of the University of Pennsylvania.

The White House "decided to sort of support some of these urban myths that have been really debunked over the years," Goldfarb said.

i say Water is better for you than all the other liquids people drink...especially soda and beer....

Your brain has some issues with compartmentalizing.

Luddy did not say that liberal kids don't have bad habits......he did not say that they do not drink sugar-water. He said that lib kids have parents that are willing to listen to the 1st Lady when she uses her pulpit to advise Americans about healthy choices.

Nutters here, representative of nutters everywhere, are offended by this advice. They are so offended, that they will ignore the message.

That is Luddy's point.

You're an asshole.

Has anyone said it's better to drink anything other than water? No

Moochelle has bloviated all sorts of shit about eating moonbat vegan oriented diets while scarfing down every delicacy known to man. Now she's talking about people drinking water instead of shit produced by "evil" corporations?

**** that useless cow, and **** you too.

You really think you are cute, don't you?:banana2:

It's not about drinking extra water, it's about drinking water instead of garbage.

There's no question that it's healthier to drink water instead of Diet Coke.

Since when did I allow my government to become my nutritionist?

Nobody's forcing you. It's just a suggestion. A campaign with the hopes of increasing awareness.

But, no, you just go ahead and keep drinking your supersized sodas, or beer, or whatever. Heaven forbid you should drink less of that and more water.

Yes, they will cut off their nose to spite their face. Idiots.

Sorry, but I don't take nutritional advice from somebody with a big, fat, blubbery ass who stuffs her face with french fries every chance she gets. The ***** has no credibility.

Can we see a pic of you?

That was done simply to point out your hypocrisy. All the First Ladies have their causes to promote. It's kind of expected of them. I guess it's just a big ******* deal when it's the black First Lady who's doing it.

Why? I'm not the one trying to dictate to everyone else's eating habits. If I was, you might have a point (other than the one on your head).

Again you run from the same type of judgement you use on others.
