It simply doesn't hold water.

Wow, Michelle, what a brilliant person you are-----------water and oxygen are good for people----------who knew?????

How can you make such a cruel and insensitive remark about our fabulous First Lady? The woman is holy, completely holy!

But alas, I will reserve my fervor for more important things. The things that actually matter, namely my freedom, and the malfeasance going on in Washington regarding Syria. Arguing over whether the government tells you to drink water or not is of no consequence. I simply find it insulting to my intelligence to know my government doesn't trust me with my own dietary needs.

Good day.

Oh brother. With each and every word you expose the liberal mindset on government. Such as flawed logic of your allowance overriding my disallowance.. wow, you're reaching now. If anything, they cancel each other out, in that case the pendulum swings towards my disallowance, since such a stalemate resorts in nothing being done at all.

No vote overrides another. Dispense with such irreverence. And obviously you didn't understand the phrase "A government OF the people, BY the people, and FOR the people." So by as you say by "all intents and purposes", this government belongs to the people. You really need to understand that. Badly.

I think YOU need to understand that the government belongs to ALL of "the people" - not just you.

You don't get the final say, and arrogantly pretending you do and stamping your feet on a message board is really just pathetic.

If you don't like the First Lady's pet causes, feel free to vote for representatives that will make it illegal. That's the ONLY power you've got on this matter.

Wow. You just aren't getting it are you? Where did I say it was solely 'my' government? Did I not acknowledge that this government is under the will of the people? There is no possible way that it will bend to my will alone, such is foolish thinking. Oddly enough you told me not to assume what you were thinking, yet here you are trying to read my mind.

YOU DARE TO FEIGN IGNORANCE?

Since when did I allow my government to become my nutritionist?

You do remember that post, right?

You do not have the right to tell me what I can or cannot say against my government. As long as my comments fall within the site's Terms of Service and other guidelines set forth here, you don't get to dictate my speech. If I wish to opine about what this government does to me as an individual, then it is my prerogative. It is pathetic really, to see people discourage open protest of the government on a message board.

 Poor, persecuted Templar.

Your right to free speech doesn't negate mine. Calling you on your bullshit isn't "dictating your speech", it's using my own.

One other thing, you are not a purveyor of power. My power comes directly from the Constitution itself. I have power to vote either way I please, without so much as a nod from you.

You sure do. And you have the power to throw tantrums about the First Lady's pet projects on message boards, too.

You don't have the power to "allow" or not allow the government to do anything, though.

Just a question though: If the government did indeed belong to 'all' of the people, why are you the one saying it doesn't belong to me? Interesting.

I don't think I understand your question. I'm "the one" saying it because this is a message board, and I'm responding to your post.

The oxygen part was made up and of course you fell right into it

You have no remaining arguments other to speak down to me. Frankly, you misread my initial post all the way, thinking that I alone had sole control over my government. Try reading carefully next time. Forgive my insolence, Doc, but you sound more like a troll than a reasonable opponent in what was a reasonable debate.

You take care, Doc. I'm moving on, regardless of whether you choose to move past your indignation or not.

It's not about drinking extra water, it's about drinking water instead of garbage.

There's no question that it's healthier to drink water instead of Diet Coke.

do you drink bottled water

No, I drink tap water. I live in San Francisco, we've got some of the best tap water in the country.

Yes, I drive by the beautiful, untouched by human hands, water supply every day.

is that your wife/husband? SFO is beautiful city. its just too bad its full of fruits and nuts.

any place that would continue to elect pelosi cannot be operating with a full deck.

Good day.

Alas!

TK....nobody has told you to drink water. You are bothered by someone suggesting that it is healthy to drink plenty of water rather than flavored drinks. You take this as an attack on your freedom. You think anyone who is not bothered by this is a person who does not value freedom and does not understand our system of government.

In other words...you are delusional.

Fervor? Ha ha! What a tool!

And the Bush wives didn't trust you not to use drugs or read books...I'm sure you were equally outraged and "insulted".

Well, it is beyond scientific dispute that drinking energy drinks and diet soda (not to mention fruit juice and anything containing sugar) will tend to make a person gain weight. Coffee and tea actually have some benefits, though in excess they have negatives.

So, since no one besided Mrs Obama seems interested in telling the public about nutrition, I'd think she'd get a pass. Now her husband is another story.

I thought Millie's book was quite charming. But, really, when i think of it, Barbara and Laura just look like the people I hang with. There's just something about Michelle that seems unlike us, but I can't seem to put my finger on what it is.

Water is bad now? If Michelle came out and said protect your children Repubs would be tossing them off the nearest overpass.

Drink water: Cons say BOOO
Exercise: Cons say **** you
Pirates: Cons say kill 'em
Obama kills Pirates: Cons say "He shouldn't have killed them"
Libya: Cons say "Do it...wait, no don't....wait..."

Drink water: Yes
Exercise: Yes
Pirates: Kill'em
Libya: Stay OUT

Guess you are wrong, nice try.

It was inevitable a liberal would bring Bush into the discussion. How freaking predictable.
