So, why are we spending so much time, money, and effort trying to get them to the negotiating table, when neither wants what the U.S. would be offering as a bargaining chip?

It seems both sides are hoping to score a decisive victory, which will make them stronger in any negotiations. No moral failing in that. If Brazil, for example, had offered to broker a peace deal between the U.S. and Japan in 1943, I doubt either side would have been interested.

So, let them fight it out.

Hopefully, it goes without saying that they can do that without any more weapons, money, or even moral support by the U.S. to either side.

I think they are both wanting to negotiate from a position of strength.

Yes, we should have learned the lesson that it makes no sense for Americans (on both continents) to have made the effort to build up nations in the new world, freeing them from Europe along the way, only to volunteer for the worst aspect of the European mindset that we needed to get away from, which is the near-constant state of war they seem to enjoy.

Just a guess, but I'd guess Zelensky's "strategy" with this drone attack is to provoke a devastating response from Russia, hoping to get Americans back on the side of defeating Russia and off of the mindset of finding peace.

No. Kievan regime is wanting European and American money. Europe is wanting "decolonisation of Russia" (meaning genocide of Russian people), Russia is wanting denazification of Ukraine and Europe (meaning political purges and establishing equal-safety order in Europe), because Russians don't want to be genocided. There is no much place for negotiations, actually.

"Devastating attack" against Ukraine is meaningless, because Trump may decide that exchanging one million of civilian Ukrainians for one strategic bomber is a "good deal". The proper answer is the destraction of the more or less same number of US strategic bombers by a "proxy" or "accident-like sabotage" attack, if it is possible. If not - the proper answer is the large-scale nuclear counter-force attack.
And yes, Zelenskiy's almost only chance for survival is a direct war between Russia and the USA.

Stay in Russia, Russians.

You will have no problem.

Invade eastern Europe and your nation will die.

You may hurt Europe, but you will die.

Russia has wanted peace from the very beginning. Russia had simple demands. Had those demands been met there never would have been any war at all. But if you punch Russia then Russia will want its simple demands met plus punch you back.

In a nutshell. You are right.

Stay in Russia, Russians.
We are in Russia. Ukraine is Russia, too.
You will have no problem.
Is it the BS europeans were telling you? You are fools, you believed them.

No. Their nations will die and Russia will survive.

Everyone is going to die. In the worst case will take both Europeans and Americans with us. In the best - we'll kill them all and take their lands and their women.

You are Rus, and just can't stop lying.

You don't have the numbers, the tech, the equipment, or the leadership.

That attitude, little Ivan, guarantees your extinction.

We are in Russia. Ukraine is Russia, too.
