And there's the ultimate problem. The Democratic party leadership is old. Out of step. They think they can win this with ideas and policy. They don't understand that they are in a war. The other side has right wing and alt-right media blaring 24x7 non-stop about the evils and dangers of Democrats while their side has....almost no one calling out every lie and every piece of election fraud BS that comes out of the mouths of people like Trump, Bannon, Miller, etc. You have the moderates who just want everyone to get along when we all know deep down that ship has sailed...permanently. You have the progressives whose hearts are in the right place but probably just a bit too idealistic and aggressive..and impatient, but don't hold any of the leadership positions. Meanwhile, the gerrymandering, voter suppression, conspiracy theories, and division pimping continue unabated on the Republican and conservative side. Hell, I don't even think the Republican party exists anymore. Nor do I think traditional conservatives exist anymore. They've all been sucked into the alt-right vortex that the former reality TV game show host created. This country is becoming more diverse, more multi-cultural but Democrats are bound and determined to win over that white, working class, non-college educated voting bloc...you know, Trump supporters. When it ain't gonna happen.
If the current situation is allowed to evolve, here's where our democracy ends. When we wake up the morning (or in the days) after an election, and a SOS decides to throw out the results of their election and allow an alternate slate of electors appointed that will hand the election to the person who lost...because they're sure there was fraud. Don't have to prove it. Just have to say it. That will be the day you can take both the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence out of their hermetically sealed glass containers.....and shred or burn them. Because our Republic..will be officially dead.
