Protestants are not required to take a vow of poverty as no Protestant Church offers cradle to grave housing, salary, etc. for anybody. Protestants believe their is no shame in poverty except among those who exploit it for their own purposes and there is no shame in wealth honorably gained and believe that is supported by the scriptures.well, the problem with that or one of them is that his congregation who send him money.. a lot of them probably can't afford to eat out every Sunday, while he can do whatever he sets his mind to doing. I just don't like that. Maybe it is capitalistic and etc... but .. and also, I have not heard of which charities he gives to. Maybe I'd like him better if I knew more about that?
Priests take a vow of poverty

And he personally gets none of the money sent as contributions to his ministry by his own choice. Lakewood Church does a lot of pairing with worthy organizations such as World Vision and does a lot of hands on ministry as well.
I'm not into Osteen's prosperity gospel a great deal, but I do not see any harm in it and his operation seems pretty scandal free to be as large as it is. He gets 45,000 people to church every week. That alone is amazing.
