Well, if you want to reflect on who's promoting the hatred, the bile, the abject anger, almost all the division pimping, you need only look in the mirror..because that's where the majority of it is coming from. You can thank Newt and his "Republican Revolution" for not only the state of the Republican party and conservatism, but for also helping to destroy any semblance of political discourse in this country. A Democrat sat in the White House for the first time in 12 years, Hillary Clinton tried to reform healthcare, and the right wing (aided and abetted by far right talk radio) lost their shit. I didn't think it could get worse after 8 years of "you're either with us, or you're against us", but when Obama was elected, it went to a whole new level. The actions, the sacrifice made without hesitation by 60 policeman and hundreds of firefighters on 9/11/01 showed that despite our difference, despite our problems, we are 1 nation, 1 people, united together, and we are ready to lay down our lives for one another at any time.

We can not allow hatemongers, enemies of this nation, those who seek to create division and violence as the 'bullets' and us as the 'weapon' against each other and this nation.

Instead of focusing on the differences we need to focus on the things we have in common, that bring us together.

Instead of focusing on and obsessively hating the struggles and mistakes of our past, we need to focus on all the great things, great people, accomplishments, and events that have made this country great and has brought us TOGETHER.

We are greater, stronger, TOGETHER.

On 9/11/01 we were all AMERICANS. ON 9/11/12 we declared to the world ' NO ONE TREATS MY FELLOW AMERICANS, MY FAMILY, MY COUNTRY LIKE THIS - WE ARE UNITED, AND THERE WILL BE HELL TO PAY!'

It's time to reject the voices that are telling us our past mistakes and struggles define us, that this country is evil and we should be ashamed of it, that this country must be burned to the ground, ripped apart to atone for those sins / mistakes.

Be honest....how many times have you seen posters on this board declare Trump is not their President.

I've noticed, however, that wingers seem to be far more conciliatory when their guy is in the White House. "Let's rally around the President, um, now".

So those who aren't also promoting positive communication, cooperation and collaboration are merely paying partisan lip service to our problems.

'Concillatory' is hard to muster when the man in the WH is violating the Constitution openly, violating the rule of law, violating Constitutional and civil rights...is illegally spying on Americans, reporters, the media, USSC Justices, the political opposition, and newly elected Presidents and their team...when they are not weaponizing and using the IRS against citizens, when they are invading Syria....after winning a Nobel Peace Prize...

Well, maybe they didn't run out and scream at the sky. What they did was way more insidious. 8 years of it. After the Republicans declaring that Obama was to be a one term president, up springs the eternal well of abject hatred known as the alt-right and of course, those "patriots" known as the Tea Party. I can't remember how many of those protests I saw where they carried Obama in effegy, drew his face with the worst caricatures, and held up some signs that were quite frankly embarrassing. And those just and righteous Republicans and Conservatives? Questioning the country of his birth, questioning his religion, his patriotism, and throwing out conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory as shown above. Fanned and fueled by right wing media. And still, none of it stuck. He'll be remembered as a good president albeit with some foreign policy asterisks. Obama's been gone for over 3 years yet the obsession with him on the right wing continues unabated. Maybe that's because they know their guy will never measure up to him. Maybe they see the end that is coming for their side of the aisle.

Trump made his own Russian issue. Just as he f'd up with Ukraine. No one to blame other than him. Not the media, not Democrats, not the plethora of chipmunks this year. But you willing sycophants will give him a pass. Why? Because in the end, you agree with everything he says, he is, and he does. And that, will ultimately be your undoing this fall and in 2022 and 2024.

Trying to compare Conservatives and their actions after Obama won to Democrats and their actions after Trump won is pathetically like attempting to compare Watergate to OBAMAGATE.

Watergate is like a child stealing penny candy compared to Barry's Russian collaborated / assisted, Constitution-shredding, Rule of Law-violating, Constitutional and civil rights trampling failed attempted coup and all the coup attempts and crimes committed by Democrats since Barry's failure.
