What will be the world reaction to this?

Will Israel and the west, draw Iran into a larger mid-east war? What will the reaction of Washington be?

. . . and why on Earth did Netanyahu's government authorize such a bold and insane strike into Syria?

". . . Iran’s ambassador, Hossein Akbari, vowed revenge for the strike “at the same magnitude and harshness.”

Hamas and Islamic Jihad — another Palestinian militant group backed by Iran — accused Israel of seeking to widen the conflict in Gaza.

Experts said there was no doubt that Iran would retaliate. The strike in Syria was a “major escalation,” Charles Lister, a Syria expert at the Middle East Institute in Washington, said on the social media platform X.

A spokesman for Iran’s foreign ministry, Nasser Kanaani, called on other countries to condemn the strike.

Israel has attacked scores of Iranian-linked targets in Syria over the years with the apparent intent of disrupting arms transfers and other cooperation with Hezbollah. which has sent thousands of fighters to support Syrian President Bashar Assad’s forces.. . . "

US braces for retaliation after attack on Iran consulate — even as it says it wasn’t involved

". . . The Biden administration insists it had no advance knowledge of the airstrike Monday. But the United States is closely tied to Israel’s military regardless. The U.S. remains Israel’s indispensable ally and unstinting supplier of weapons, responsible for some 70% of Israeli weapon imports and an estimated 15% of Israel’s defense budget. That includes providing the kind of advanced aircraft and munitions that appear to have been employed in the attack.. . . ."

". . . Multiple arms of Iran’s government served notice that they would hold the United States accountable for the fiery attack. The strike, in the Syrian capital of Damascus, killed senior commanders of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for Syria and Lebanon, an officer of the powerful Iran-allied Hezbollah militia in Lebanon, and others.

American forces in Syria and Iraq already are frequent targets when Iran and its regional allies seek retaliation for strikes by Israelis, notes Charles Lister, the Syria program director for the Middle East Institute.

“What the Iranians have always done for years when they have felt most aggressively targeted by Israel is not to hit back at Israelis, but Americans,” seeing them as soft targets in the region, Lister said. . . "

Iran is fighting a proxy war against Israel, and it is about time they had to pay a price for it.

That's very not cool.

They attack their embassy in another country? Bad form to say the least.

Any why Syria? Why not Qatar and get the damn leader of HAMAS, hmm?

uhhhh. . . because that would make sense, and end any reason for continued assault of Gaza.

Fuck giving peace a chance!

If the Palestinians actually had to vote on new leadership, and had a chance to reject Hamas? Good lord, that would be a disaster for both Israel, Likkud, and radical Islamists in Palestine. Nope, can't give the majority of Palestinians a chance to voice their opinion.

The Christian Zionist and Zionists need to maintain the narrative.

What a stupid question. Israel hit the people who are waging the proxy war, not millions of people who have no say in the Iranian government's actions.
That hasn't stopping them vis-à-vis their policy toward the Palestinians. From where I am sitting, their policy toward Palestinians is, "The only good Palestinian is a dead Palestinian."

Iranians just had an election the first of this month?

But the Palestinians?

Why Palestinian Territories Haven't Had an Election Since 2006

"According to Lovatt, Palestinian territories have not had an election since 2006, for three reasons:

  • Other countries such as the U.S. rejected Hamas' 2006 election victory, deepening political tensions in Gaza and the West Bank. “[The international community] wants Hamas to recognize Israel, denounce violence, and commit to the Oslo Accords, which Hamas cannot do explicitly,” Lovatt said, referring to referring to the seminal 1990s agreements which saw both sides recognize each other for the first time, and would see the formation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
  • Abbas has a fear of losing elections again. “They [Fatah] do not want to lose again. Elections [in Palestinian territories] are quite embarrassing for Fatah [and] exacerbate existing internal divisions.”
  • The Israeli government's intervention has "fractured Palestinian national movements," he said. "[The Israelis] want to foster divisions between the two regions [Gaza and the West Bank], and do not want unified Palestinian leadership."
A Palestinian legislative election was set to take place in May 2021, but Abbas postponed it indefinitely, citing Israel's refusal to include East Jerusalem in the elections. (East Jerusalem was annexed by Israel in contravention of international law.) UN experts sided with Abbas, demanding that Palestinians in East Jerusalem be allowed to participate.

Israel’s refusal to let people in East Jerusalem vote in the planned election “gave [Abbas] an excuse to not allow elections that year,” Lovatt said, and that helped him avoid another loss. At that point, Palestinians perceived Abbas’ government as corrupt, authoritarian, and propped up by international donors, according to Al Jazeera. Al Jazeera reported how postponing the May 2021 election(s) further reduced support for Abbas among Palestinians.. . . "

Hmmmm. . . 🤔

It would seem to me, yoar logic for indiscriminate slaughter, makes more sense on Iran, than on Gaza. . . It looks, like someone here. . .. has a serious case of . . .

If that is yoar rational? Why doesn't Israel just nuke Tehran?

:dunno:
The distance is around 842 miles to Tehran. They do not have fly-over permission for Iraqi airspace. Their F35 attack planes (operational range a little over 1300 miles) do not even have the operational range for a 1684 mile round trip mission (and that is a direct flight at altitude, not coming in low where they evade radar before popping up and using even more fuel. Last time I checked, they didn't have sufficient air refuel capability to support a wing of their air force for a mission requiring that many planes for that duration. These considerations could still be affecting the decision. Just a guess, based on their aircraft, locations of the bases, the distances, flight times and how I would plan it.

Not cool? It was very cool. Iran is waging a proxy war against Israel and two of its top generals were in the consulate thinking up what atrocities they wanted to inflict on Israelis next and then they were gone. It was a thing of beauty.

The range of Israels' Jericho II B missiles is reportedly capable of being modified to carry nuclear warheads no heavier than 500 kg over 7,800 km, making it an ICBM.[166] It is estimated that Israel has between 50 and 100 Jericho II B missiles based at facilities built in the 1980s.[167] The number of Jericho III missiles that Israel possesses is unknown.

Nuclear attack, was not the first thing that went through my mind. I lean toward conventional weapons, personally.

I suspect it was Israel's way of sending a very clear message to both the mullahs and DC. Israel may be engaged in battles with Hamas in Gaza and Hizballah in Lebanon but they are AT WAR with Iran and the message they just sent was a wake-up call for Tehran to call off their proxy dogs or prepare to get a LOT of their stuff in Iran broke down, busted...
