Israeli Contributions To The World

The list of Israeli contributions to the world is remarkable indeed. Especially considering what Israel has for neighbors trying to prevent it. Here are but a few starters worth noting.

ISRAEL'S CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE WORLD
There is something mystical about Israel (so obvious to many of us) that causes love or hatred amongst the denizens of this world. Those who despise them, in most cases imo, do no realize what spiritual forces are influencing their antipathy.

1. Cooper , Ukrainian immigrants, went to IT in Chicago and Motorola is and was an American company. (he developed it but not alone, many were involved, like all inventions.)

In 1972 Cooper sponsored a design contest among Motorola engineers. In 90 days they had a prototype and on April 3, 1973, Cooper made the phone call heard around the world. After a press conference Motorola hosted to introduce the phone in New York, he took the device out onto the street to make a demonstration call – to AT&T's Bell Laboratories, Motorola’s competitor. This led to the first commercial mobile phone in 1983.

In 1992 he set up ArrayComm, a smart-antenna company. He also, along with his wife Arlene Harris, developed the Jitterbug, a handset with bigger buttons and fewer features, designed for elderly consumers.

The son of Ukrainian immigrants, Cooper grew up in a modest household in Depression-era Chicago. To finance his education at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Cooper joined the Navy Reserve Officers' Training Corps. He started working at Motorola in 1954, after a stint aboard a U.S. Navy destroyer in the Korean War. By 1957 he earned his master’s in electrical engineering at IIT.

Cooper has credited his family for his success. “My resourcefulness and persistence come from watching my folks digging in. My mother was a dynamo. She would talk to anyone. She never walked slowly. And I am always leaning forward into the wind.”

“People are mobile,” Cooper has said. “They move around, and anytime they want to communicate, if you tie them to the wall or the wires, you’re restricting them, you’re infringing on their freedom.”

Lets talk about Dates:

The Medjool, whose name means “unknown” in Arabic, came to Israel from California, where Americans were tending palms gifted by the king of Morocco in a bid to save his country’s date heritage after a blight in the 1950s. The Medjool was the only variety that didn’t have a name.

While the Medjool makes up less than 1 percent of the 7.9 million ton global date market -- Egypt and Iran are top producers of dates overall -- it’s the chief variety among the 32,000 tons of dates grown in Israel and the Israeli-occupied West Bank each year.

Part of its success owes to a re-branding of the fruit by marketers including Hadiklaim, the Israeli date growers’ cooperative, as an exotic delicacy displayed in supermarkets such as Fairway, Marks & Spencer and Coop Swiss. Foodies around the world have added the Medjool to their shopping lists.

“If there was one date variety that the average person would ask for by name it would be the Medjool,” said Mitch Berliner, who runs two farmers markets near Washington, D.C.

Who is Hadiklaim , glad you asked:

Date picking in the Jordan Valley is a hazardous business. Workers are hoisted into the trees with a cherry picker and are often left to work on a platform high above the ground for the duration of the working day without meal or toilet breaks. The majority of workers are Palestinian or Thai migrants – who are uniformly paid below the minimum wage. For more info on labour conditions for date pickers in the Jordan Valley see Kav’La Oved and UNISON’s 2009 film, Bitter Dates at http://www.leedspsc.org.uk/?p=1671.

Hadiklaim specialise in Medjoul dates – the type of date Muslims traditionally use to break their fast at Ramadan. Over the past years British mosques have often bought Israeli dates to break the fast because they are cheaper than their counterparts from North Africa. Ramadan is the second biggest time of year for Israeli date exporters (after Christmas). Israeli Medjoul dates can only be grown in the Jordan Valley and a few other regions of Southern Israel. Palestine Solidarity Campaign are running a campaign to highlight the issue of Israeli dates being bought for

57 Contributions Israel Has Made to the World

On the occasion of Israel’s 57th birthday, it is time for us to celebrate how far our nation has come in just over half a century. 57 years ago, we were struggling to keep our young nation alive. Today, we are thriving as a global leader in science, technology, medicine, culture, and much more.

In honor of 57 years, I wanted to share with you 57 of the many contributions that Israel and Israelis have made to the world.

Most of these should read "Assembled in Israel" or similar...

Is like saying China's contribution to the music world is Gibson Guitars!

Why is that? I counted the word "developed" 27 times in my list. That does not carry the same meaning as "assembled."

Which of those items are you finding so disingenuous?

Do you think that list exhausts the contributions of Israelis to the world? More importantly, do you really care?

More importantly, do you really care?

That pretty much sums it up!

Well there was no mask on you. You are one of those Islamic types who hates Jews and lies every day of your life to prove it.

Free Palestine, right. From who? From your rich arab friends who delight in leaving them in squalor instead of helping them out? Find God before it's too late is my advice.

You are right, there is no mask on me...

Dragging out what contributions Israel has made to the world is pretty lame in an attempt to defend it's human rights and international law violations to be honest... I would call it grasping at straws, hence, I really don't care!

However, if you bothered to read my posts you would see that I don't hate Jews and don't need to lie...

I support the existence of Israel as a homeland for Jews!

But hey, you are a zionut and will simply make up your own shit to suit your purposes!

I sure as hell am no "Zionut." I despise them for their treatment of the Palestinians with their damn peace offerings, security fence & land concessions so Palestinian squatters can remain in Israel. Still I must give praise to Israel for all their worldly contributions in such a short period of time.

Would you care to educate those "ZIonuts" to some Palestinian contributions to humanity?

Wow, that's about as ignorant as it gets, Israel in no way has the population and labor laws to be a manufacturing hub, it is, however, Israel is where the world goes to, if they need brains, technology, inventions, and entrepreneurship:

Israel Has Emerged as an R&D Alternative to Silicon Valley

65 years on, Israel is top choice for tech by multinationals

No Roodboy....

The ignorance comes from people like you who believe that it's a country that is achieving these 'miracles'...

IT'S PEOPLE YOU IDIOT!

Never heard of the Israel National Brain Drain Program?

It's a nationalistic program to stop PEOPLE leaving Israel and offering incentives to PEOPLE to carry out these 'miracles' in other countries...

Bzzzzz wrong again. Ever heard of that? You just don't want to give credit to the Israelis for their amazing achievements. Get off your brain and stop the drain:
Israel Has Emerged as an R&D Alternative to Silicon Valley

Startup founders are constantly looking for the best innovations and research to advance their businesses.
When it comes to finding bright talent and some of the best technologies, startup owners might have to start looking overseas for help. One country that stands out from the rest when it comes to research and development (R&D) is Israel. In fact, it ranks second only to Silicon Valley for startups, according to Rubicon Venture Capital.

For startup founders curious about how moving their R&D efforts to Israel can be beneficial, here are four supportive points:

1. Tech talent. The pool of STEM talent in Israel is huge. According to R&D Innovation as a Growth Engine, there are 140 scientists, technicians, and engineers for every 10,000 employees in Israel, compared to 85 per 10,000 in the United States.
This talent is fueled by an unmatched level of R&D investment.
According to the Invest in Israel report, Israel invests the largest amount of funding in R&D in relation to gross domestic product and is highly engaged in scientific and technological inquiry.
The primary source of Israeli R&D funding is government and public organizations, according to the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs. More than 40 percent of funding is used for national, binational, government, and university research. The Israel Science Foundation is another important source of funding and offers grants for approximately 1,000 researchers, which is matched with university funding.
The amount of funding Israeli universities receive has contributed to a great amount of R&D success. Israeli universities are known for taking out a large number of patents and the country also publishes approximately one percent of the world’s scientific publications.
In addition, as noted in this Israel Institute of Technology report, Israel’s significant defense-related R&D plays a major role and has great impact on Israel’s industrial sector, science and engineering, research community, and its overall workforce.

2. Entrepreneurial talent.
Israel is flush with entrepreneurs, second in numbers only to Silicon Valley. The country is filled with people with courage, drive, creativity, boldness and tenacity who will move mountains to achieve their goals and dreams.
Over the years Israel has also amassed a long list of experienced entrepreneurs who have "been there and done that'' all around the world. They bear the scars and trophies to show for it. Having a R&D center in Israel means tapping into this stellar talent and the benefits of a highly productive, innovative and collaborative work environment that simply "gets the job done."

3. Ecosystem.
The long list of companies with an R&D presence in Israel includes Intel, Google, SAP, HP, IBM, EMC, Apple, Huawei, Samsung, GE, Philips, Siemens, Alcatel-Lucent, Oracle, Microsoft, Motorola, XEROX, AT&T, Dell, AMD, Paypal, McAfee, Qualcomm, Polycom, Marvell, Cisco, Telefonica, Avaya, Deutsche Telekom, Avaya, SanDisK, Ebay, AOL, Autodesk, Yahoo, Sears, GM, LG and many more.
These companies are also shifting their R&D efforts to Israel because of the talent and ingenuity available, and/or due to their acquisitions of Israeli startups. Having a R&D center in Israel means connecting to a global development ecosystem. This is helpful to forge development ties, to recruit from neighboring companies and, sometimes, to just get close to the giants in the hopes that some of their magic pixy dust will stick.

4. Costs.
Israeli salary expectations, while not the lowest in the world, are lower than those of the U.S. For example, the average salary for a software engineer in Israel is approximately $68,000. The average salary for a software engineer in the United States is approximately $93,000. This presents an opportunity for startups to save money when hiring talent for their research and development efforts.
