every reputable organization that has investigated Isreal's use of WP in Gaza has said their use was legal
if they had intentionally used it to target civilians, i doubt they would have ruled that way
i don't dispute the legality of WP, what i do question is the use of it in a densely populated area, it is a battlefield weapon used for illumination. the israeli forces say that is what it was used for, yet it has to come down somewhere imo its a get out clause for the israeli forces, we are using it but we are not targeting civilians, the fact civilians are in the area is unfortunate.
but going back to the subject of the thread, the use of flechettes. the idf have been using these for quite some time even before the latest offensive. as i haven't made enough posts yet i can't post links. but a couple of years back israel did a targeted assassination of two palestinian gunmen travelling in a car. the shell took out the car, what israel did then was fire another shell which was a flechette weapon, this missile killed a number of civilians and wounded more than 40. this weapon had a radius of 300 meters in length and 100 meters in width, so spread to surrounding streets. israel at first denied using this missile, saying the second one was the same as the first one fired, which if memory serves was a firefox missile, and it was only when a member of the knesset who had seen the reports said he would go public did the idf come clean. now tell me what was the justification of using this weapon in a populated area after the initial missile had done its job if not to take out non combattants, including women and children.
