Israel must give Palestinians gas masks: Security official

Coyote, et al,

There are two kinds of Political-Military Command and Control over the Policies used in an Occupation.

  • The first, and the one that most people speak of, is Strict Compliance Orientation. This is the one were the regulatory and statutory requirements are cited and discussed. This is all about the minimum requirements and the exercise of obligations. This categorical imperative, focuses on an absolute, unconditional requirement that asserts its authority in all circumstances.
  • The second approach is that based on the Principle of Sufficient Reason (PSR). This has a built in weakness, yet a certain elegance. It is result oriented. Decisions are based on the logical exercises that leads to a solution; or its inverse. What is correct or incorrect in the assumptions is less important than the result that leads to a correct action outcome.

Winning an argument on the basis of "right and wrong" is not as important as achieving the truth.

The state of Israel has responsibility to its own community first.

Should I feed the mouth of the same lion which sees me as prey?

They chose to maintain a military occupation over another people. That makes those people part of their community and their responsibility.
(QUESTION)

Given the current situation, between the Israeli and Arab Palestinian, marred by endless waves of hostility over the last century:
  • Is there a position that the Israelis can take that equally benefit both the Israeli and the Arab Palestinian?
  • Is it possible for Israel to reasonably protect the citizens and sovereignty of Israel and that of Arab Palestinian?
Remembering that: {There are competing ideas.}
  • Palestine, with the boundaries it had during the British Mandate, is an indivisible territorial unit.
  • Palestine is the homeland of the Arab Palestinian people; it is an indivisible part of the Arab homeland, and the Palestinian people are an integral part of the Arab nation.
    • Armed struggle is the only way to liberate Palestine.
    • Commando action constitutes the nucleus of the Palestinian popular liberation war.
This is the basic foundation for what has turned into a Belligerent Occupation.
(COMMENT)

When looking at the outcome, the Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip out of the 1967 War, was probably a mistake. It created an excuse for those under developing economic entities to divert their energies toward a political cause that did not exist during Jordanian occupation (1948-1967).

While civilian authority was granted to the Palestinian Authority (PA), that as well proved an error to Israeli external security; even though 90-to-98 percent of the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza came under the PA's authority. Terrorism consistent rose to the extent to which Israel seemed forced to maintain a military presence within the entities.

Israeli responsibility for palistanians ended in 1994, when Palistan was created out of the thin air to the tune of the brass band. There is no occupation, forget it.

(QUESTION)

Can you briefly explain your logic? What happened in 1994, and how does it change the actual reality on the ground in the West Bank? How does it change the quarantine of the Gaza Strip.

(COMMENT)

There is a "reality" to the situation of today, and the actual activity of Israeli Forces on the ground. I think it takes some explanation. At face value, it appears to be an "Occupation."

It wasn't, but the handling of it was. Leftists habitually bungle and mess things up, of course.
It created an excuse for those under developing economic entities ...
So, what "development" were those economic entities going through?
... to divert their energies toward a political cause that did not exist during Jordanian occupation (1948-1967).
How so, if Israel experienced cross-line attacks from Jordan from 1950 to about 1966, and the PLO was created full three years before the 1967 war?

Are they allowed to import them?

Generally speaking - an occupying power is responsible for the citizens of the territory it occupies. Israel is no different than any other occupying power.

Where to they get the money to get Fajers and Quassams?

Let the same sources send them gas masks.

If not, well, it's their problems, since they support Assad.

Lets see how their hatred towards Israel comes back to bite them in their tuches.

None of that changes the fact that an occupying force has an ethical responsibility towards the civilians under it's occupation.

Israel can choose not to honor that responsibility.

It doesn't look very good on their part however.

We can have responsibility to the whole wide world, you completely missed the point that I told Mr. Tinmore, which was- We don't have gas masks *left!*

About 40% of civilians are unprotected, including children.

So they can shout "it's your responsibility" million times, right now, we just can't help them!

If we succeed in creating more gas-maks, Netanyahu's first priority is protecting the 40% who are unprotected in Israel, and then, if we have left any, Palestinians will get protection, too.

That how it works, them whining won't solve anything, and won't magically make them recieve those gas-masks.

So "responsibility" is not even the issue here.

What happened in 1994, and how does it change the actual reality on the ground in the West Bank?
Constitution of Palestine of 1994, CHAPTER ONE, ARTICLE 1. The Palestinian people are the source of all authority which shall be exercised, during the transitional period, through the legislative, executive and judicial authorities in the manner provided for in this Basic Law. ... etc. blah-blah-blah ... .
How does it change the quarantine of the Gaza Strip.
Who cares, let fatah and hamas fight it out, of course.

Indeed, if the value=the face of Erekat, than we've tanks in Ramallah, of course.

No they don't. That's the job of those governing the Palestinians

Indeed, that would be Israel.

I thought you said Hamas governs them?
Hilarious. Israel should send gas masks to Hamas, while Hamas commands Palestinians to shoot rockets into Israeli cities.

They seem to be really good at acquiring rockets and bombs to be able to kill more Israelis, but gas masks to protect it's own citizens? I guess it's not on the top of their "to do" list. LOL

If the situation were reversed, would the Palestinians do the same?
Palestinians would have slaughtered every Jew in sight and those that are left would get gassed again.

I have an idea. You know how American cities have these gun turn in deals where you turn in a gun for cash? Do the same with the Palestinians. Turn in a Qassam rocket and get a mask. Genius ain't I?

I like that idea. Turn in a rocket get a mask.

Turn in a suicide belt and get two gas masks.

Hamas has plenty of money to buy rockets and AK-47's for their foot soldiers, let them pay for the gas masks.

Exactamundo. If they stopped focusing on trying to kill Israelis and actually helping their people, gas masks wouldn't even be an issue.
