Mossad fighters participated in the attacks, launching pre-deployed weapons inside Iranian soil.
Senior members of the Revolutionary Guards and the Iranian army were eliminated.
A number of scientists from the Iranian nuclear project were eliminated.
A number of ballistic missile production and storage sites were destroyed.
The nuclear facility in Natanz was severely damaged and put out of service.
The facilities in Fordow and Isfahan were not attacked yet.
Iran is threatening a very severe response, which they claim will come soon.

Considering that Iran may want to retaliate against both Israel and the US, it would be prudent to destroy as much of Iran's military and military industry as possible, and considering that Israel has been under attack from Iran via its proxies for 35 years, now that the attack is underway, it might be prudent to weaken Iran's ability to supply and support it proxies. Two goals: destroy Iran's nuclear program and destroy Iran's ability to project power beyond its borders.

Not defending Iran. They have been an evil regime since the overthrow of the Shah. Israel is doing what it needs to do. But you cannot separate this attack from the atrocities in Gaza. Gaza is the home of Palestinians and has been for hundreds of years. Now Netanyahu and trump want to turn it into a ME playground, pushing out people who have seen this as their homeland for decades.

Hamas is evil. They are hated by most Palestinians in Gaza. But Netanyahu's escalation of the war, destroying residential areas and even denying food and aid just plays into the hands of Hamas and intensifies the hatred the Palestinians have for Israelis. Even the Israeli people say that Netanyahu is going too far.
