At this point, Israel created the situation. I am sympathetic to the civilians who will suffer on both sides. But this government?

Two state solution, never.
Politicizing the courts and reducing their independence.
Allowing settlers to attack Palestinians with impunity.
Settlers pouring in and creating outpost after out post with no regard to whether or not it is private land, knowing they can do whatever they want.
Horrible ongoing criminal violence in Arab Israeli sectors that the ruling coalition refuses to do anything about despite their begging for help.
What is starting to resemble an entrenched form of apartheid and a permanent two-class system of Justice and rights.
When you add in the fact that this coalition has greatly empowered the religious right extremists who go out of their way to harass minority religions (like spitting at Christian pilgrims) with the outright support of government officials.

This current government has a lot to answer for in pushing what has been a chronic situation into a conflagration.

But maybe it is what they wanted?

At this point in time what have the Palestinians left to lose?
