...Russia IS the doorstep of eastern Europe! Go look at a map!
You are correct, technically speaking.
However, for practical political and economic purposes, Russia, and her vassal states (Ukraine, Belarus, etc.) are not generally thought of nor considered a part of Europe. The isolation of Czarist Russia defined that difference and the Cold War of our own times pretty much sealed that working definition in the common parlance.
So, when I say that Russia is knocking on the doorstep of Eastern Europe, I mean that it is getting (militarily) aggressive in its present and former vassal states adjoining real European countries like Poland.
And, picayune literalism aside, the observation still stands: the Russians are knocking at the door in Eastern Europe and that will affect your security and well-being far more than it will affect us; consequently, the observation that you need us to stand in solidarity with you, far more than we need you to stand in solidarity with us.
...Scotland is not threatening to pull out of the Union, they are having a referendum for independence. Big deal...
And this time the preliminary sampling polls indicate a populace in favor of Independence (with a capital "I").
If it's not such a big deal, then why are Unionists pissing their pants and offering all kinds of concessions suddenly, and why is the Queen expressing such concern?
...So, where exactly do we need you more than you need us?...
Manning the front lines in Europe.
...Get a grip on your American patriotism and war-mongering...
Well under control, and I don't see any war-mongering coming from me in this regard.
...I post this video again to sum up American 'patriotism' in case anyone missed it the first time...
Who gives a fig what Brits think of America?
You are the sons and grandsons of those fools who lost their Empire.
And you're still (collectively) jealous that we stepped into the vacuum and sidelined you, in accordance with your degraded strength and value and importance on the world stage.
Time to give-up your permanent Security Council seat to India.
At least that will put an actual world-stage 'player' in the drivers' seat, rather than has-beens who continue to fade away into irrelevancy.
