The Exxon Valdez was a shipping mishap. It had nothing to do with oil exploration, storage, pipelines. And increased safety measures have gone in making it one of the rarest events Americans have had to cope with.

And here you get to what I was talking about. It's more than just a pipeline, there are multiple parts to it and every one of them can go bad in a catastrophic way.

So you can either have technology that benefits humankind as well as all flora/fauna on Earth in many different ways, improve their lives, and utilize it carefully, safely, responsibly to avoid catastrophic mishaps.

Or you can deny that to people because something 'might go bad'.

There will never ge guarantees that nothing bad will happen in this world. But we can utilize resources in very beneficial ways and minimize bad things happening as much as is humanly possible.

I have been voting mostly R for a little while. I could eventually vote mostly D when it becomes a real second party with practical objectives, such as:
Real environmental action, not using greenwashed subsidy dumpsters for money laundering.
Community gardens. Where fresh produce is unavailable, start growing it. Politicians and party bosses can lead by example by personally tilling, planting, weeding, etc. Repeal ordinances against front yard edible gardens.

And possibly make some trades in state borders. Some states can be merged and others divided. North and South Dakota should be one state. California should be at least two states. Washington and Oregon could still be two states, but as one western coastal state and one eastern high desert state, which might choose to merge with Idaho. Put the DC neighborhoods in Maryland, drop the DC statehood nonsense, and start a better push for Puerto Rico statehood.

Lefties probably blame Nixon for the 1973 Ak. pipeline but it was the democrat majority in congress and the senate that passed the bill that Nixon signed.
