Is There Any Empathy Left In The Gaza Conflict? by

I think the war needs to end already. Here in America, they don't show the funerals of Israeli soldiers, but my relatives say that it's shown all the time there, and the whole nation is crying. I, for one, am heartsick at seeing Gazan children, injured and crying. All of the tunnels have been destroyed. Unless Israel's objective is to take out Hamas completely, then this war has to end.
I concur but I am afraid both of our relatives in Israel will be exposed to the second phase of lunacy Digger Topples Bus In Israel 'Terror Attack'

ps very few people in the UK think all the tunnels have been found let alone destroyed.

Nobody in Israel believes that either.
Lipush ,so a minimum of 67 dead, an unknown number of injured for what.............32 tunnel destroyed out of 80+BBC News - Israel pulls troops out of Gaza

Best thing to do about Hamas is to make them irrelevant by giving Palestinian people the rights, the land and the dignity that they deserve.
Still spoiled petulant brat, those palistanians. All "gimme! gimme!! gimme!!!" and tantrums, and tantrums. How about getting a life and a job, and earning all that they want? That's, like, a responsible adult behavior of a group of people, claiming to be a "nation". But, no, they're having a kewl occupation - "gimme!" and tantrums.

Strange how NON JEWS (primarily self proclaimed rightwing christians on this board) are the biggest cheer leaders for hate and violence, wasn't long ago as I remember that Us Jews were on the receiving end of their vitriol . A lot of it has to do with their end times fantasies, they have NO compassion , real nasty people
guno I concur, some years ago the British Fascist Groups who were all rabidly anti-Semitic openly tried to recruit right wing Jews. The Fascists stated that Muslims were a bigger threat to British culture than the Jews. Can you believe that one Fascist group actually put up one of these Jews to stand in a local election.
As a Jew what makes me laugh about your Christian rights love affair with Israel is their Tax dollar allows Israel to increase the abortion budget so they can offer more state funded abortions, this years addition is free of charge abortions to Israeli women between the age of 23 to 33. I would add I agree with Israel abortion laws.

What does all this legal palaver and hate-mongering have to do with the subject of Empathy between the Israelis and Palestinians, and its erosion, and its prospects for survival or resurrection?

There are already enough threads hereabouts for bashing the other side.

I agree..yet....something has to be done about Hamas, that doesn't involve punishing the Gazans as a whole - Hamas is no good to Gaza, but the war just makes them hate Israel more and Hamas uses that to their advantage.

The policies of seperation need to be looked at, as well as what kids are taught in schools about the other side. :dunno:

Simple answer is to start issuing arrest warrants for all hamas members on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity. That will sort this out when every hamas member is either in prison or in hiding, then we will see how "innocent" the people of gaza are....................

They have the rights and refuse to act accordingly, the land has to be negotiated as INTERNATIONAL LAW demands then will come the dignity. But first they need to stop the VIOLENCE, TERRORISM and BELLIGERENCE as laid down in customary International law

Youth will create peace as they did in Northern Ireland https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWyGlTDkT5A

The fundamentals in the two conflicts are so dissimilar that comparing the two is meaningless when it comes to trying to see one's way to a successful resolution.

Are you bullshitting us or do you really believe, in terms of finding an answer to solve the violent stalemate, that Palestine = Northern Ireland?

The violent intensity of the month-old war between Israel and Hamas raises the question of whether Israelis and Palestinians have any empathy for each other.

A generation ago, they used to routinely rub shoulders. Just how tense things are between Israeli Jews and their Arab neighbors is something my colleague Daniel Estrin recently witnessed at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem.
In the waiting room, he found two Israeli women shouting at a Palestinian mother whose son was being treated for a beating he received from a Jewish mob. An Israeli tank drives past a field of sunflowers along the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip as they pull out from the Gaza Strip Sunday. At least 10 people died in a strike outside a U.N. school in Gaza shortly after Israel confirmed it was withdrawing some troops from the war-torn area.

"Go away you trash," one yelled. "I would bury you in Gaza."

Two other Israeli women tried to comfort the Palestinian mother. But she was in no mood for reconciliation, and retorts: "What good will your apologies do?"

Such lack of empathy is widespread in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza these days, even in the few communities where Jews and Arabs mix, like Jerusalem.

the war needs to end.... after the terrorists of hamas are de-fanged.

anything that allows the terrorists to regroup does a disservice to israeli citizenry.

Perhaps they gave away their dignity when they voted for terrorists.

What is all of this dignity nonsense?

Dignity, does it entail killing Jews?

Does it entail grabbing back land they supposedly lost, but was never theirs in the first place? Does it involve throwing acid on girls in Afghanistan for wanting to attend schools. Does it involve stoning someone to death. Is this the dignity they speak of? Perhaps beheading nonconformists?

No, the lack of dignity that Palestinians feel is the fact that they become a welfare state and pawns in a war for rich Muslims who don't even live in Gaza anyway.

The facts of the matter, historical or pragmatically, means the world will all eventually realize the Palestinians have no basis for their intransigence except Islamic.

And that is unacceptable.

People no longer are allowing themselves to be emotionally manipulated by the Palestinians.

The Palestinians and their supporters should prepare themselves for becoming despised and the objects of derision worldwide.

That is what their racist anti-Semitism deserves.

And this is what is happening now around the world, the ordinary people are seeing the Islamic extremists actions every day and when hamas started this current round of fighting they found they had very few friends. Killing their own children to create sympathy no longer works and they have been left as pariahs in the eyes of many decent people. The world is turning against the left wing and is starting to embrace nationalist principles, and the enemy is islam

no loss of life is ever "worth it" per se. but how many innocents die if the trash of hamas use the tunnels to mount terrorist activities?

i think the IDF is capable of doing the job. is it 100%? maybe not. but i think they feel ok with it. they're also talking about sealing israel off underground so no breaches can occur.

if hamas terrorists stop lobbing missiles into israel, i'm pretty sure israelis would be perfectly happy. perhaps your concern should be more that hamas uses innocents as human shields. i'd also ask how many palestinians died because of *that* tactic?

p.s. all things being equal, israelis don't want war. but it's not reasonable to expect israel to lay down and die for terrorists.

From an Israeli perspective, if the deaths of 100 Gazan children prevent the death of 1 Israeli child, then, yes, it was worth it, and then some.

The destruction of 30+ tunnels means that there are 30+ fewer threat-vectors that the Israelis in those border regions have to worry about.

The prevention of the death of any child is always a worthwhile endeavor.

The Israelis teach their children to live.

The Gazans teach their children to die.

And even help them to die, in time of war...

Want the dying to stop?

Stop firing rockets into Israel.

Stop digging tunnels from which to launch terror-sorties into Israeli border regions.

Stop embedding war-assets amongst your civilians.

Simple.
