The wealthier the top 1 percent is, the more politicians it can buy to gather up even more of the country’s wealth. What isn’t usually realized is that perhaps half of it is spent on outsourced services, not on the military. It is corporate welfare on a cosmic scale. Precisely because it is a cesspool of large-scale corruption, Trump’s budget will throw over $100 billion extra taxpayer dollars at it.

The problem is that in the US many corporations just have to pay a fine as punishment for bribery (giving or taking) and all's well.

In China someone can get the death penalty for bribery. I'm sure bribery is more common in China though.

But there are other things besides bribery, like the impunity of police.

Most of these things were around before Trump, he just made them worse.

The article is pretty good, I read it, but I don't think the US is as bad as countries where you have to give bribes for basic stuff like getting a driver's license or passport. However, the American police is worse than in some countries where you have to pay extra for everything.
