Pretty interesting piece here: It's the Rubio and Rand Party, now - Jim VandeHei and Mike Allen - POLITICO.com

It's beginning to look like there may actually be a third fork emerging in the GOP, in between the hardcore absolutists and what they would call the RINO's. It's also looking like that third fork may be the one winning the civil war, at least for now. Interestingly, the Ryan/Rubio (or is it Rubio/Ryan?) contingent is displaying a softer edge on the illegal immigration issue. I wonder if they're creating a winning platform, if they're ready to moderate on any other issues, and if they could do a better job at marketing the conservative brand.

On the outs would be the old guard like Rove, Boehner and McConnell on one end and the hardcore Tea Partiers like Ryan and Bachmann on the other (I'm seeing Ryan's approvals drop). There's a lot of baggage to jettison, but if they could pull it off, and if it came together quickly enough, it could be a good sign for the GOP.
