Is the economy getting better?

I did not questions your facts, bigreb, only your conclusion. By your facts and the population increase to 313mm, we have 1mm more jobs now than six years ago. Your condemnation of wiki means nothing.

That is not Republican (which you are not by your own statement condemnation of dem and pub I published yesterday) and that is not Democratic. That is truthful.

Now if you want to argue that the economy should be growing faster or that it is still too weak, I support you 100%.

My conclusion? Your post was second to this thread the only thing I post was the stats from the BLS I made no conclusion dumb ass.

Mr. Starkey there thinks he is a true neutralist. Here he is defending the failed economic policies of the Obama Administration. Nope.

Answered #60 above.

I don't think the economy is doing much of anytbing but treading water. The only sectors that seem to be doing well are those directly impacted by the feds infussion of cash. Everyone else seems to be just limping along.

The thing I don't get is why now the left points at the fat cats and wealthy as the sign that we're on the right path when just a few years ago they couldn't wait to camp outside their doors and throw rocks and bottles.

I don't begrudge wallstreet for making money I just wish the left would stop pointing at them as the bell weathers of our economy. Its just stupid

Every freakin' issue is now politicized into the freakin' ground, and so many folks have this weird and transparent obligation to simplistically blame every freakin' ill on "the other guys".

Yeah, the economy remains brittle and unveven, and I can tell you that last week's unemployment figures have many in the financial industry -- and I'm about talking people in the street, not pundits preening for the teevee cameras -- pretty worried.

If we have two more such months, yes, we can be in for a long second half of the year.

Then we can suppose that it is better than in December 2008, yes?

What post are you trying to point too? That link went to the first post of the second page.
You want too argue with the BLS stats fine

If you love Obama we have never had such an incredible economy. The envy of the world.
If you are not a big Obama fan our economy is struggling big time.

I can't splain it any better then that.

Nope. In fact it is the same as it was, if not worse than in December 2008. Don't try that Liberal talking point, all you're essentially doing is placing blame. And I must ask, you haven't done any refuting, and you are the one telling me in our PM discussion about being the only one who speaks in facts. I'm sorry. Do you have any real empirical data to back your claim up? Seems as if bigs has a leg up on you in that area.

You are following the old reactionary talking points, bub. Yes, we are doing slightly better than the end of Dec 2008 in that the lost jobs have been replaced, a million more added, but the sticking point is unemployment for sure.

This will help you. Bureau of Labor Statistics Data You really need to move off talking points and dealing with reality.

At the end of 2008, the Labor Force Participation rate was 65.8%. Now it is 63.3%. It's difficult to call that An Improvement. What the drop means is that 6M people today are without work due to the economy nor producing enough jobs to keep up with population growth.

What the hell jake your link is showing job loses

According to the BLS, the LFP is the "Labor force participation rate The labor force as a percent of the civilian noninstitutional population." BLS Glossary Before Bush left office his unemployment rate was higher than it is now. That is no great comfort, though.

Really now? I'll find the same statistics bigR did. A decline in labor force participation rate to 63.3%, lowest in almost 40 years, and a fact that you, with all your self flagellating cannot deny.

Bush had a higher UE in his last month than BHO has now, we have replaced all the jobs we have lost, added an extra million, all with an increase in 13mm in the population since 2007. Interesting that.

Your problem is that you can't see the glass is half full. You want it completely full without accepting the fact that a far right GOP Congress and two compliant Presidents plus compliant Dems broke the economy.

What is that?

Uh. Wrong. At the end of 2008, 143,369K people were employed. As of the end of March 2013, 143,286K people were employed. All of the lost jobs have not been replaced - and we haven't created enough jobs for the growing population.

The civilian non-institutional population was 235,035K in December 2009; in March 2013 it had increased to 244,995K. Nearly 10M more people, of which 60% plus should have been able to find jobs...but there are no jobs for them. That is not Economic Progress.

IOW, we have a jobs deficit of at least 6M jobs.

Heckuva job, Barry!

The US population as a whole increased by a mere oh, mere three tenths of a percent in 2010.

Sure keep deluding yourself.

Bureau of Labor Statistics Data

Tell me, where are your facts man? All you're doing is popping off at the mouth. All your cherry picking isn't going to change the fact that people are giving up looking for work.

Sure, if the economy had not crashed. You really should not ignore that important fact. We have replaced the jobs we lost, added another million, but still short of were could be, yes.

The fact is that the far left and the far right are holding us back.

Yes, the economy crashed - as it has in other recessions.

What's different this time: the worst combination of government policies and interference ever, which has crushed the opportunity for a recovery.

Not ever: it took WWII to recover the American economy from the Great Depression.

And your conclusion is not fact, only opinion.

Our economy is moving forward, however weakly, yet forward.
