Failure? Unemployment was below 6% for almost all that time. GDP grew for almost all that time. Our debt was never downgraded during that entire time.
Under Obama it has been the exact opposite. Dems refused to rein in Fannie/Freddie and helped cause the housing crisis. Then they voted for a series of idiotic stimulus measures that did nothing but waste money. No jobs were created despite spendng a trillion dollars. Doing that they got our debt downgraded. By offering bailout after bailout to both banks and consumers they prolonged the housing downturn. The Dems' solution to everything is to throw money at it. And now we see the results: the worst recovery on record, about to turn into a double dip recession.
Obama is the worst failed president ever. He is Jimmy Carter on steroids.

The economy is not getting better. It's being inflated with massive amounts of fiat currency, deficit spending, and debt. Our gubmint is engaged in desperate short term maneuvers to kick the can down the road. Well, we're nearing the dead end.

The one indicator that tells the story is the Labor Force Participation Rate. We have a shrinking workforce in a growing entitlement state. That is a suicide pact.

Attempts to classify the current economy as "improving" are just excuses for the New Normal of European style non-growth, high taxes, and high permanent unemployment.
