Most people don't trust media sources these days & those that do are dwindling.
The leadership of MSM knows they are losing both credibility & followers, so the question is: How to regain the trust & bring back the masses before they become obsolete?
Apparently, there is a growing school of thought in both academic & media circles that the idea of journalistic reporting based on facts is antiquated & less than ideal. Stupid even.
Don't take my word, they betray themselves with their own words, even choosing to post articles advocating activism over journalism.
The left refuses to acknowledge the fundamental fact that objectivity is essential, labeling their propaganda as "advocacy journalism".
Objectivity is the very foundation of journalism. If it isn't based on factually verified data, then it's somewhere between mere speculation & outright propaganda.
Subjective writing is not journalism, it is an opinion piece & should always be labeled as such.
Subjective writing belongs in the Editorial section so as not to confuse the low IQ's.
Otherwise, you would still have sheeple thinking masks work for an airborne virus, the clot shots are safe, effective & necessary, a demented perv in a dirty diaper sleeping on boxes of classified docs received 81 million legit votes, men can have babies & if corrupt Russia wins in corrupt Ukraine, it's the end of baseball, hot dogs, apple pie & Chevrolet.
Now, former executive editor for The Washington Post Leonard Downie Jr. and former CBS News President Andrew Heyward have released the results of their interviews with over 75 media leaders and concluded that objectivity is now considered reactionary and even harmful. Emilio Garcia-Ruiz, editor-in-chief at the San Francisco Chronicle said it plainly: “Objectivity has got to go.”
In an interview with The Stanford Daily, Stanford journalism professor, Ted Glasser, insisted that journalism needed to “free itself from this notion of objectivity to develop a sense of social justice.”
He rejected the notion that journalism is based on objectivity and said that he views “journalists as activists because journalism at its best — and indeed history at its best — is all about morality.”
Thus, “Journalists need to be overt and candid advocates for social justice, and it’s hard to do that under the constraints of objectivity.”
Lauren Wolfe, the fired freelance editor for the New York Times, has not only gone public to defend her pro-Biden tweet but published a piece titled “I’m a Biased Journalist and I’m Okay With That.”
