Ive lost count of the times that I have been called a commie on this forum.

Im not a communist and never have been. Im probably a socialist but that bears no relation to communism.

I also see dems described as " Commies" but struggle to make the connection\ Im terms of political views the Dem party is hardly even left leaning. In Uk terms it is far to the right of our Labour party and probably closer to the cameron tories, before the brexit nutters took it over.

The GOP is far more to the right than our tory party today. They havee extreme positions on capital punishment,, womens health and guns taht would not fly over here. In fact they would be the kiss of death in the UK.

But the Dems drink at the same trough as the GOP and are definitely not commies. In fact it is difficult to see any credible left wing entity in the US.


Is it a throwback to the Macarthy era ? Reds under the beds and all that ? Or is it just a catch all insult made by people who are not politically literate ?

There were and are many forms of Isms that go from Marxism to Maoism and none of them are the same when it comes to their way of trying to rule under Communistic Rule.

You view yourself as a Moderate - Socialist but you could also still have common factors with Communism and not know it.

Many confuse Marxism which is the actual bases of Communism being the same as Stalinism or Maoism while not understanding those two share some common factors with Communism or Marxism while still being vastly different.

It is like when people say “ Conservative “ while not breaking it down into Fiscal and Social Conservatism and many confuse being Republican as being Conservative while being Republican may not mean you are Conservative of the Social or Fiscal issues in life.

Take someone like me I am truly Fiscal Conservative but Social Liberal which means do whatever you want, but do not reach into my pocket ato pay for your things and do not harm people, animals, and so on.

Give you an example:

Lets’s use abortion and I believe if you want an abortion then by all means but do not require the government to access my account to pay for it.

Now do you support the Government's right to regulate or control the aspects of the Healthcare System?

If so this is where Communism aka Marxism and Socialism could be similar or the same seeing they advocate Government Control but Socialism doesn’t go as far as Marxism in other aspects of your daily life.

Meh, what you are seeing in the States is Corporate Media trying to pit Society against each other with political hacks trying to label each other incorrectly as usual , and their viewership swallowing the nonsense like the gullible fools they are.

In the end, many confuse Marxism which is the bases of Communism with the other Isms that include Stalinism and so on while not understanding that it is true Stalinism borrows a smidgen of its ideals from Karl Marx’s theories and teaching it is not pure Marxism at all.
